Continued from Part One:
“I went into work for an hour (which I never do) and I end up doing a pedicure on the owner of a company that formulates and makes MAKEUP products! They’ve made products for sephora and bath & body works. I told her about you and your blog. She looked it up on her phone and loved it and she said she’d drop her card off at the front desk for you!”
I was afraid to get too excited until we actually had the card in hand. People say they are going to do a lot of things but sometimes they’re just trying to be nice.
I went into Rachel’s work to check for the card and was sad but not very surprised, that it wasn’t there.
That would be too good to be true….
Except that, the next day we checked again (just in case) and guess what!? She came through.
When I finally got her on the phone I told her what I’d been thinking for so long:
“I feel like the way we do traditionally have done makeup is a little bit backwards. We put on one flat color of foundation on our face and then spend then next 15 minutes adding colors back in. What if I there was a product that Highlighted, contoured and covered all at once? It just doesn’t make sense to do it any other way. It costs more money, takes more time and puts more layers of makeup on your face.”
She loved the idea. We planned to get started. I figured it would take a few months…
That was 2 years ago.
I vowed that I would never sell a product that I didn’t personally believe was better than anything else on the market.
For years I had struggled to find the right contouring color (especially for fair skin) so I was determined for it to be perfect.
I think I drove them crazy with my millions of requests and tweaks: too warm, too dark, too heavy, too greasy, too creasy, not enough coverage, not enough pigment, too much pigment, too warm…STILL TOO WARM, too gray now…you get the idea.
When I thought it might be right I’d throw it in my makeup collection and within a week I’d know if it needed another adjustment. Was it better than everything else in there?
After a little over 18 months of back and forth we finally aced the perfect product. I can say with all honesty that if someone took it away from me I wouldn’t have a thing I could replace it with.
I have used the 3 shades of IIID foundation on about 50 women so far and it looked beautiful and natural on all of them. (Although, I hope for the next run to add a darker color that will look absolutely stunning on women of color)
The blush colors were pretty simple for me, I’ve always used the same three colors on pretty much everyone there as well, adjusting the intensity with how much I put on.
I was VERY sure on what I wanted for the illuminator. Understated, sheer, glowy pearl with no glitter or loud iridescence. It was the first one we got perfect and it’s been absolutely KILLING me to use other products for my tutorials for the last 6 months, cause this one was just so much better.
Ladies and gentleman may I present to you my line of IIID products:

Quick update: To answer many of you with this question:
Are your products tested on animals? Heck to the no.
But they have been kid tested and mom approved.
