Makeover Monday

Have you ever seen eyes this color?
St-u-u-u-ning I tell ya.
This is Lucy, she’s as sweet as she is beautiful.

I used a copper shadow around her peepers and a heavy coat of mascara, cause we all know that I’d be crazy not to capitalize on those babies.
I filled in her brows a little bit closer together which I think really softened her expression and framed her face beautifully.
Buffed in some gorgeous foundation using my favorite brush.
I dabbed some pink blush into the apples of her cheeks.
Next I contoured her cheekbones, sides of her nose, chin and forehead.
Highlighted the bridge of her nose, under her eyes (in the pie piece) between her brows and on her chin and set it with a illuminating powder. ( I used the hard candy version but I can’t seem to find a link for it, got it at Walmart)
Lined her lips (blending well) and finished with some sexy pink gloss.
I hope you guys love it as much as I do.

THIS WEEK ON ALLURE! We were all given a big old box of Revlon products (I felt like it was Christmas getting all that shiny new makeup at my door!) and told to have at it. Head on over to see what I did! Vote & like if you have a minute Click HERE or on the big old badge over there>>>>>

Natural Makeup + Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

This little firecracker inspired my latest tutorial.
There’s something softly natural and maybe a little European about her makeup.
This is a great look for the whole, “I wake up looking like this” thing.

I overdrew my upper lip like crazy to try to capture that Bee stung pout but, I still didn’t get even close.
Touch’e Rosie, Touch’e.

Ok, so I had some SERIOUS technical difficulties with my video making skills tonight, it’s almost 2am and still not working, I would just stay up until its done but I’m gonna need some help from people that are currently deep in dreamland. Nevertheless, it’s been WAY too long since I’ve done a tutorial so I won’t make you wait another day… just maybe a few more hours. I’ll get it done ASAP and get it up just as fast as I can! So please check back later today! Here it is!

In the meantime here are the products I used:

Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – # 6.5 Tawny
Holy Hannah Montana this stuff is PRICEY! It was my B Day present so I’ve only had it a couple days. Not quite ready to say if it’s worth the splurge or not. Choirs of angels didn’t burst into song when I opened it (as I had expected) but, I think it’s pretty so far…I’ll keep you posted.
Stila In the Light Naturaleyes Eye Shadow Palete
Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder – Golden Light
Stila Long Wear Liquid Lip Color in Patina
Benefit Cosmetics They’Re Real! Mascara
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter ~ Pink Lemonade
Maybelline Highlighting Concealer in Nude
NYX Makeup Setting Spray DEWY FINISH

Making a case for eye shadow palettes.

I get it.
I will eat 1,000 miniature Snickers before I will open a full candy bar. That big hefty bar seems like total gluttony but the mini’s are so harmless! They’re cute and little, they couldn’t possibly make it to my hips!

So when I recommend an eye shadow palette and you guys are like “Dude, Cara! What about something a little bit cheaper, it’s a RECESSION!!?”
I hear ya. But in my experience (and trust me I’ve weighed it out heavily) you save yourself a lot of money by buying a nice palette that you love instead of a bunch of individuals.
Even if you were to buy drugstore brands, they tend to have less pigment and less shadow altogether. So before you know it, you’ll be back to the bag grabbing a few more minis. By the time your done you’ll have eaten 5 naked palettes. (sorry I’m mixing up my analogy…you know what I mean though, right!?)

All that being said I don’t recommend palettes to you ladies without EXTENSIVE research (blood, sweat, tears, 5 Sephora trips, online review binging, swatches to the point of staining my hands and wrists etc.)
For this spring and summer palette I was really looking for a tool that:

  • Has some rosy tones (they are all the rage and look beautiful on:)
  • Would be stunning on any skin type or eye color,
  • Has both shimmer and matte choices
  • Is high quality with high pigmented colors & a creamy blendable texture
  • Has no “I love this color but I’ll never wear it”s
  • Is a good companion to build on my last recommend (Lorac Pro Palette) cause lord knows we aren’t throwing it out any time soon!
  • Is in a compact case that is good quality so it doesn’t rip, fall apart or take up too much space in your makeup case
  • Is under $45
  • Had high costumer reviews

Oh hi Stila, you must have read my mind.

Perfect Palette for Spring/Summer
In The Light by Stila
This bad boy came with everything I wanted and more. BONUS! a dashing dark brown liner is included. All for $38!
{Get it HERE}
I’m going to be using this in many of my upcoming tutorials (promise I still do those, haha been working on some I’m really excited about like makeup for GLASSES!)

Yet, I will finish this post with this promise:
If you can afford it get it in your shopping cart like, yesterday; but if it’s just not in the budget right now don’t stress! I will still be finding drugstore counterparts as often as possible, you have my word:)

PS You can vote for the Allure contest once a day all week, it just has to be 24 hours since your last vote! (HERE) Thank you thank you to everyone who has taken the time to vote, it makes me smile so big my face hurts.
