I’m pretty excited about Valentine’s Day.
I have always loved this fine hearted holiday.
Let’s face it though, I love all holiday’s. Even made up ones.
In high school I waitressed at a glamorous buffet called Chuck-O-Rama (also lovingly known as Up-chuck-o-rama & chuck-a-grama) and I always loved to see the guys who would bring their gorgeous dolled up dates there on V-day… I mean, I love to put on a pair of my finest stretchy pants and enjoy stuffing my face cafeteria-style as much as the next gal, but in those stilettos and bandage dresses, I’m guess they were expecting something a wee bit fancier…
One year, I had a guy send me a dozen beautiful roses and some chocolates (trust me when I say this was not a common occurrence). When my dad got home from work I realized I hadn’t check up on his Valentine’s Day gift giving (a job my sisters and I have adopted for birthday’s, Christmas’s etc. he is the sweetest, but when it comes to holiday’s the guy is hopeless) He’d forgotten.
Dad: I’ll give you 30 bucks for your flowers and chocolates.
Cara: Sold.
Flowers die, and I only like the raspberry cream milk chocolates anyway(which she’d probably give me if I was hovering around looking hungry while she opened them)
It was the perfect crime.
Ah, the memories. Anyhoo…
I wanted to do a pretty look that used A LOT of pink, cause…duh.

Hi, this is a pretty cool look! I normally don’t look forward to V day just because I guess we’ve just gotten lazy (too soon after anniversary and xmas). Anyways, the one thing that I do look forward to is the valentine’s craft that my little boy makes for me at daycare. No huge balloon or flower arrangement can top that! Happy Monday!

Haha that’s exactly what I thought when I saw it!
My blonde-hair, green-eyed, 5-year old daughter, Amy, wore her favorite pink and white shirt with a pink-ruffled skirt to school on her first Kindergarten Valentines Day. Her barely-legible Valentine Cards were tucked in her Dora backpack and she was so excited to pass them out to all her little friends.
I was getting ready to help with the party, and I got a text from my friend who was already in the classroom: “Just wait till you see Amy’s ‘special’ Valentine.”
I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn’t expecting the big fluffy pink-and-white stuffed puppy that she received from a little boy.
The other moms, the teacher and I gathered around the stuffed animal and giggled all morning.
Fun first Valentines, but wow, I think we’re in for it!
I used to work at a coffee shop when I was in my highschool years. One year I came home on Valentine’s day to discover a dozen roses and a note addressed to me. It was the first time I ever received flowers on Vday. Unfortunately I soon discovered the gift was from a husband of one of my coworkers!

So pretty! I love that you used a Wet N Wild eyeshadow! I have several of them & I love the fun colors & the prices. I do have a question with the color whispers lipstick? Do you still use the Mink liner with them? I have several of the lip colors & I LOVE the way they look & feel on!
Thanks Krista! I haven’t really been using the mink with them because they are so light, I used a different contouring technique (you can see in the blue eyes vid)

After having kids, it got a bit harder to get out on Valentine’s Day, so a few years back we started this fun little tradition of a heart shaped pizza for dinner with “Pink Love potion” and either heart shaped sugar cookies or chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. Then we all snuggle up for a movie night. And we always ding-dong-ditch the front door and leave a goodie for each child. Makes the day just as fun and no major bucks needed. Making new memories and traditions.

Hi Cara, came across your blog a couple weeks ago and I think its awesome!!! Thank you for all the wonderful advise, and you make it so “user friendly”. I was wondering if you could give me a suggestion for an everyday lip liner, I’ve been using a couple of the whisper lip glosses and really like them but I could use a liner.
