Tip #1
This is the coolest thing I’ve learned in many moons. It not only saves me money and time by not having to go to the stylist, it also let’s me rid myself of split ends without having to go shorter. ( lord knows I don’t deal well with length-loss)
1. Start with clean, dry, combed hair and bright lighting.
2. Slide a 1″ piece of hair weaved through your middle 3 fingers down the shaft of the hair clipping the very ends of the hair that pops up.
3. Repeat.
Pretty simple huh? You will be amazed at how much softer and silkier your hair is once you’ve sliced off all of the crusty edges. Plus, If you get tired of it before your whole head is done? No worries. It’s a great boredom activity so you can pick it back up next time your hub says “the game only has 10 minutes left!” Between time outs and overtime, you’ll finish the job.
Tip #2
I have a whole post about this if you want more deets. HERE
Tip #3
Favorite trick. I do this ALL the time.
FIY: I LOVE this moisturizer, Dr. Oz told me to get it and the guy knows what he’s talking about.
I grab it over other moisturizers that nearly put me in the poorhouse. It costs like 6 bucks for a jar the size of Texas!
{St. Ives Moisture}
Tip #4 + a GIVEAWAY!
{theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer HERE}
This is a trick I use constantly, I love the base color that bronzer provides, just enough warmth and it goes on so smooth.
OH and HEY! I am going to give one Bahama Mama away! All you have to do to enter is pin one of the photos from this post to your pin board. Then comment to let me know you did. Enter before tomorrow (Jan. 31) at noon and cross your fingers!
Tip #5
Maybelline Color Whisper in Petal Rebel
I use this trick all the time. Not only does it save me cash it is a nice trick to have when you are out and about and need a little color. I usually have lip stuff in my purse.

I love all your stuff, but mostly you.
I have been following since forever and I am not sure how to ask…but I thought maybe commenting was a good way?!? Anyway, i think it would be so fun to see a whole bunch of makeup and hair tutorials on the cast of the NEW 90210! They are all beautiful ladies but have different summer kissed glowing looks!!! I would love to see your take on them! Please?! Thanks!!
I’ve been reading forever, but this is my first comment. I just need to tell you that you saved my long hair! I had a bad ombre that left the lower half of my hair so damaged and gross that I thought I was going to have to chop off 5 or 6 inches, but I just did your selfie trim and it’s saved! So eternally grateful!!!
I LOVE your eye shadow primer recipe I’ve made it twice and it works so well! Please keep little tricks like these coming, they’re amazing! Thanks for all you do! You’re such an inspiration.
LOVE the Maybelline Color Whisper in Petal Rebel! Thanks for mentioning it!
I am definitely trying the hair trimming tonight! I’ve been needing a cut so bad, but no time. Great idea!
Where do you get St Ives Timeless Skin Moisturizer??? I’ve looked at Walmart, Walgreen’s, and Target and cant find it! I prefer to buy in a store rather than online, where do you get yours????
I always buy the St Ives at Wal-Mart. It’s the only moisturizer I have ever used and I love it.
I have heard to avoid anything with mineral oil in it, and in the St. Ives moisturizer it’s listed as the second ingredient. I’ve also read that on one of Dr. Oz’s posts. Confused about that. Your thoughts?
Where can I find TheBalm Bahama mama bronzer? Sephora doesn’t carry it anymore and I can’t find it online as well as ULTA!!! Please help. Is there a product similar?
H! I Love the post about trimming your own hair, but the steps/instructions are super hard to understand. Could you do a video or repost how to trim your own hair?! I love it, and I really want to learn I just dont understand that segment.
Actually, one of my favorite bloggers just posted a video on it today! She explains it in a little more and shows it on the video so that should help! http://www.barefootblonde.com/2013/02/trim-your-own-hair-at-home.html
Hi Cara! What nail polish are you wearing in the hair trimming video? It’s so pretty!
I was wondering also!
I was wondering the same! It’s the perfect color for Spring!
For the illuminizer, how much moisturizer to eyeshadow? Thanks!
[...] hair trimmed. I know a trim is usually only a little bit, but it sort of kills me to cut it at all. This blogger (I’m sure you have seen her face ALL over Pinterest with her awesome tutorials) shows an [...]
I found mine at Walmart…only it came in a tube not a container like the one shown. It was with all the other St. Ives stuff. (I almost didn’t see it because I was looking for the container lol.) HTH Libby
What kind of scissors do you use??? I’m worried about using crappy ones and making it worse
I love love love your blog!! you look like megan fox by the way <3
