The time period known as my middle school years, the late 90′s & early 2000′s or most recongizably the reign of the boy bands was a beautiful and a frosted tipped era.
These precious times make up the largest part of my memories labeled
“what were you thinking!?”
It isn’t surprising that when you put fashion in the hands of a bunch of ex-mickey mouse clubbers, it gets weird.
I decided it would be prudent to compile a list of the most grievous offences in an attempt to fend off the possibility of us ever making these mistakes again.
Here’s hoping.
Cisco could not have known this would happen. Still though…
he should be ashamed of himself.
Back when the Zig Zag part was the wildest thing Britney and Christina had ever done….
Streaks. The stripier the better.
and the last and possibly the worst: Thicky Flip-flops…

These are hilarious and I’ve unfortunately committed all these fashion crimes. You should of also added using pomade to get that piecey look. I always ended up just looking like a grease ball.
hahaha oh yeah! the greasy pomade look!
ahhhahaha! So so funny! For real…
I pinned an image onto my “style me prettiful” board
What were we thinking. Hahaha!
Hahahah this is great I too can say I committed all of these crimes as well…the platform flip flops were the worst!
bahaha, those highlights are terrible. i’m a hairstylist and i have actually had people want highlights this chunky. barf.
What the heck? I guess I missed the memo on the thong thing, I’ll have to stop doing that
There are still people in Cache Valley rockin’ the zig-zag part!
Thanks for the reminiscing Cara i can not believe i had a crush on those boy bands…lol! oh and backstreet boys are making a comeback …..cringe xo
I am pretty sure I see highlights that stripey very regularly still.
This is too funny!

dying. hilarious hilarious hilarious.
I could not love this post any more! You forgot white eyeliner by it’s lonesome…
I’m guilty on all accounts! Hilarious.
My sister is a hairstylist and still does the highlights all the time on her clients and herself. I think it looks beautiful. That picture though on the other hand is a little too much for my taste, but it seems to me all these girls have the same boring hair, one color! We all have our own preference on what we like. I personally hate the ombe look, but its what we all like that makes us different.
Just found your site via a pin from a friend.
You are hilarious.
The zig-zig part was huge when I was in college. This dates me, right? Love your site…
