Before & Afters

Monday Makeover – Allie

Allie and I have been friends for a long time. She is so beautiful and an amazing business woman. I’ve actually talked about Allie before when I discussed the artist who showed me how she could use filler to completely rid me of my under eye bags. Life changing I tell ya! I also recently had her try a little volume in my lips, super subtle so it wouldn’t be a huge difference (especially requested by Nick because he’s very vigilant about me looking like me:) I’ve really liked the smidge of extra volume!
I know it bothers some to hear about people doing that kind of thing and some feel like it’s too vain or crosses the line. I just don’t feel that way. Certainly anyone can go overboard with vanity, materialism and self centeredness. I just don’t think this one thing is the indicator of that.
I was distracted by my baggy under eyes in the morning, if I took a selfie and often when I sat in front of the mirror to do my makeup. I bought all the creams and slathered them on hoping for a change that never much came. Then one day a few years ago I got an injection and guess what? I have not thought about those pesky under eye bags a single time since! I think that’s pretty fun!
On the other hand I know it comes with its own set of risks and it can be overdone and look unnatural in some cases so if others are not on board I am more than supportive of that choice. Everyone gets to make their own decisions based on what they are comfortable with. I was grateful for the open and honest women who told me about it, so I feel like I should return the favor.

Anyway, back to Allie:)

After all these years we finally decided it was time for her to get in the chair so I could try my hand at making up her gorgeous face. I often tell my makeovers to come as they are, I don’t like for all of my before and afters to be completely without makeup vs. full makeup. For instance if you have a natural blonde, they are going to look much different without mascara, but everyone knows about mascara so it feels like cheating and when that is stealing the show it makes it harder to see the differences the other techniques can create

What I used –

Skin & Cheeks: IIID Foundation in amber + ash + desert sunset + rose gold

Brows: Anastasia Brow pencil in Dark Brown

Eyes: Shadows from the Every Single Day palette | lid and around the bottom lashes – oak + in the crease – Finn + to deepen the bottom and top lash line – Salem

Fales Lashes Esqido A Lash Named Desire

Lips: Lipsense Lined the lips with Nude + 1 layer of nude + 1 layer of Apple Cider + 1 Layer of bravo (in the middle of the lips and on the cupids bow) Glossy Gloss over top.

What do you think the biggest stand out of her features is!?

She has the most stunning expressive eyes and I like how much softer they look in the makeover.

I like how the bottom eyeliner is softer and more natural, yet still does the job. She looks softer with it that way. Her eyebrow shape looks awesome, and the color of her “foundation” matches her neck. She is beautiful both…those are what I noticed in the second pic. Great job!

her eyes are gorgeous. However how she wore her eyeliner before took away from their shape and color. the make over allows her eyes to become larger and more expressive. Her features look softer and more defined afterward. Like the muted lipstick that doesn’t compete with her eyes.

I think you really brought out her eyes with the dark shadow, above and below and by softening her lip color. Plus, your foundation looks really natural and you softened her chest area by bringing the foundation down ( to cover the redness there). The lashes look great, too! Beautiful, Cara!

What you did was pretty subtle – I had to look back and forth a couple times. I really like the more natural lip, yet you made her gorgeous eyes pop, yet using a lighter touch on the eye liner than she did. Is it just a lighter color? More blending? I need to work on my application of eye liner!

The most important things u did are filling in the inner brows that were overplucked, and evening skin tone from face to neck!

For me, the lips are what i liked best even though the eyes are the obvious standout. The whole color combination is soft and sexy and visually luscious…

Bringing the brows in a little closer to the center added a lovely softness and the soft brown on the lower lid was a nice adjustment. The focus was her beautiful face as a whole!

Her eyebrows were improved with bringing them closer together and her eyes look much bigger, yet softer. So pretty. I love the lighter lips on her as well. You did an amazing job. Makes me wish you could do my makeup because I’ll bet you could make me look that much better too!

I am always amazed at how you do these makeovers. You do some magic to the eyes , nose and overall look. I always hope to find a video attached for the technique. despite seeing so many, I just can’t quite get it? Also thank you for sharing any “tweaks’ You may experiment in. You have been real with us so please dont stop. If something worked for you and subtle is the key then thank you for sharing it. I think more appreciate it than dont, just like a girlfriend who would tell you versus the gal who says “oh no my eyelashes just grew in my sleep or the new lipstick made them fuller.” Thank you for your honesty! Now if I could just get the eyes and nose to do that magic you do?! I have your products – its all in the application and I really need paint by numbers and to dummy it down.

Oh my gosh, those eyes! Of course her cheekbones are amazing. But dang! Just doing the more blended eye + extending her brows inward = WOWZERS. Having the lighter highlight shade on her face lets the whole thing shine.

    She is so striking!

Her eyes stand out nicely! I’m glad you still gave the “nude lip” color, because it is sad to see women covering their lips with foundation-like lipstick and the beige just blends in with their skin. So the lips are still emphasized in this case. 🙂 Even squaring off the eyebrows a little bit makes a difference. Excellent job. She is beautiful!

What injectable did you use? I do light botox on my forhead and juvederm xl in my smile lines…it’s not drastic but it makes me look fresher. I’m with you…do it gracefully. 🙂 To me it’s no different than using makeup.

One thing I always love about you is your honesty!! After a lot of self loathing and body and feature hate, I started a journey of self love about a decade ago, and haven’t looked back. For my own personal journey (everyone’s is different!) it would be going against all of the progress I made for myself, personally, to get injections or fillers, but I love that you share what you do! I know that a large number of women get injections and fillers, but most won’t come out and say it. Thank you for your honesty, you are beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.

I did a search on her site and I think she used belotero. (Search: filler and click on the under eye post). I am hoping she replies to confirm. Plus as another person mentioned I’m curious if she did the cheek area or tear trough. I did tear trough last year (basically bc of her previous post ) with juvederm I think it was. I need to do it again soon and wonder if I need a different injectable.

Beautiful as always… Question. Can you show us a before and after of your lips since you got a little filler in the upper one? Maybe a little write up about the procedure? Pain, down time, how long it lasts, etc? I’ve been thinking about doing it myself and I’m curious about your experience.

She’s gorgeous! I love the softer eyes. So much more drama, but now the focus is on her eyes and not the harsh eyeliner.
With the neutral lip her jawline also seems slimmer, and now the lips dont seem to bleed over her natural lipline. Amazing.
