Before & Afters HAC Makeup

Makeover Monday – Alicia

Hello! I hope you all had a LOVELY Holiday!

I’ve been wanting to do this beautiful woman’s makeup for along time! I just love her face! Her skin is so soft and smooth and she has one of the prettiest smiles I’ve ever seen (I know the before and after don’t show that off but if you watch the video you’ll get to see it in all it’s glory!)

What I used:

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisture (just on the outside edges of her face to even out the redness a touch)
IIID Foundation in Medium (sunlit + stone + pink grapefruit + pearl) I find when you have a lot of natural red undertones it can be very difficult to pink a foundation that doesn’t turn you into a completely different person! To me the tone of her skin is gorgeous and I don’t want to change it, I want to enhance it. That’s why I love using the yellow based highlighter because it brightens and evens her complexion without looking like a mask.

Brun on her brows

Lip liner is actually a sample I’m testing that isn’t for sale yet but it’s pretty similar to this Brow pencil

Lip Color is Nude Stix Love

Kat Von D black Liquid Liner

Brun & Soft Brown on her lids

Loreal Voluminous Black mascara

Beautiful woman! I have the same skintone she does and I find when I use sunlit it looks fine in photos but in real life looks too yellow. I think it looks yellow on her in the videos as well. Suggestions for toning down the yellow?

We have a new color coming out that is a little more in between yellow and peach! I bet that will be awesome on you!

Is this a different new color than the new peach you guys released? I need to reorder and if you have another new color coming out I will wait for that one since my color is very close to the lady in the video. What is the ETA?

I think the nose contouring in a lot of these makeovers looks unnatural and odd. These women had beautiful noses before. Yes, makeup is fun, but I feel like every woman has the same standard look you give them afterward.

I get what you mean, the same general areas are highlighted/contoured. Not everyone likes to HAC. But I just love how it makes the whole face look sculpted and gorgeous! That’s probably why I love your blog:) Thanks for all your inspiration Cara. You do amazing work!

I agree with Mara. I have to say overall I love Cara’s makeovers, but recently all the “nose jobs” look too similar. What’s makes a rounder button nose lesser to a straight thin nose? I would like to see nose contouring that isn’t generic to one single beauty standard but celebrates all noses! I know it sounds silly, but I’m over here like “well…I used to think I had a cute nose, but maybe I should be adding more contour!”

I am amazed at how you were able to tone down the redness. In the video, her skin looks natural, however in reality does it look like she’s wearing all that make up? I ask myself this when I use these techniques. When I do out can people see all the contouring? Another question, what foundations do you recommend, especially for women in their 50’s like me. I look much younger (so I think) and I am aging nicely and want a great foundation. I’ll keep a look out for your reply. Also my skin tone is olive-yellow neutral that seems to change with the seasons.

Hey beauty, I think you used the naturally pretty Vol 2 “Romantics” palette on Alicia as seen in the video but didn’t list it in the products description. What colors did you use? I’m asking because I’m the proud owner of this palette but don’t use it that much, so I’m a sucker for any of your recommendations with this palette! Love a good makeover Monday! Continue to do what you do in 2016!

Love watching you enhance the natural beauty of the subject! The nose contouring is actually my favorite part, drawing more attention to the “windows of the soul.” Thank you for all the instructive and inspiring videos!

Well I’ve been totally addicted to your makeover Mondays for months now and this one finally hit home for me. I have almost the same skin tone as Alicia – very very red, but I am at least a shade or two fairer than her (typically the lightest foundation in any range) with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes.. What you said really resonated with me – I have SUCH a hard time finding a foundation that doesn’t transform me into someone unrecognizable due to all of my natural redness. What would you suggest for me in your shade range? I’m ready to take the plunge. Thank you so much for what you do!!

I just tried to order but couldn’t get it to work (I am 71 and computer challenged). I was going to get sunlit but I don’t have yellow in my skin. How do you choose a pallette from these beautiful young people when you are older? Gloria

I love how makeup can enhance a woman’s best features. This woman is already so beautiful and has such wonderful skin, but after you’ve done her makeover, she looks even better and more enhanced! Loved what you did 🙂

i am not finding the pearl illuminator in your shop (in the foundation palette section). is the honey illuminator pretty similar? also, i am not seeing the linen highlight for fair-skinned peeps like me. is the white peach highlight similar?
