Pretty Little Holiday Look

I wanted to mix it up a little with my holiday look this year. It’s always tempting to go with the red lip and winged liner or something in that category because it’s just so classic and its practically standard makeup for all Christmas wear from an ugly sweater to a scandalous santa suit:) But Once you’ve done it you know how to do it and it’s not a very easy look to forget. For that reason I wanted to give another option. Something easier than winged liner. Pretty much everything is easier than winged liner but still…this look is a breeze.

I started with IIID foundation in walnut + white peach + Black cherry (coming in January!) + pearl
Then I got to work on the eyes!

I talked about these Armani Cream shadows a while back because a celebrity makeup artist I worked with on a shoot SWEARS by them and of course he had to get me hooked, it may well be the only Armani anything I ever own. They are really beautiful and I haven’t had trouble with creasing (the key there is to make sure to still use a primer & to dab the color into your lid so there’s not a thick layer on your lid – just enough to get the color pay off) I used a burgundy/purple called Senso

Then I took that same cream under the eye at the lashline & Ran a black liner in the tear line to make my eyes POP!

I lined my lips with OCC Cosmetics Black Dahlia and blended it toward the center. This liner is also FANTASTIC to use for red lips. It’s the perfect contour color to create a flattering red.

Then I used a little sheer lip balm to blend it and give it a natural finish.

Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!!! I can’t believe it’s already the last weekend before Christmas. I’m starting to think I’ll NEVER get my Christmas cards out in time. Every single year, my friends. When will I get it together?

I collaborated with Nordstrom for this post!  🙂

Thank you so much!! I wish I knew the color it’s just a gel that I got at the salon by my house! They just have weird numbers on them! (I usually get the whitest one they have!)

Dear Cara: Merry Christmas to you and your family. This looks lovely and I think your advice on makeup is great. However I do have a question – isn’t it risky to eye health when you line your “tear line?” And during the time you’re wearing this, do your eyes get “goopy”? Sorry- but I haven’t ever done this as I feel it “closes” my eyes and makes them look smaller? (Sorry for such a gross question) Thanks!

Very good question! It’s definitely never good to share your eye pencils when you do this (and if you do be sure to sanitize!) and for some with sensitive eyes it could be a problem but I believe it’s ok for the most part. The goop factor is there especially for people with watery eyes naturally but it’s one of those things you usually just have to fix once at some point of the day (with a tissue or q-tip) and you’re good:)

Be careful with your lipliner blending finger of choice–that photo could be used against you. (I’m sure that’s not how you meant it!)

Gorgeous! Absolutely love the look. SO much that I bought all items but the Black Cherry. Any suggestions on another Maskcara color that would work to achieve a similar look in the meantime?
Merry Christmas to you and yours ♥

You are so gorgeous!!! I would love to know how to get the redness out of my lower tear line AND my lids!! I have never tried primer so maybe I need to. Shadow doesn’t really show up on me! When I put liner on my water line it gets all watery and smudges. Would love to know some tricks!!! You’re awesome.!

Speaking of winged liner….I for one would love a tutorial on kitten eye liner for someone with green eyes. Or just any eyes for that matter. Mostly it’s the liner part that eludes me. I always get it crooked, even with benefit they’re real push up liner. That liner helps, but I still need more guidance. 🙂 So excited for black cherry and the new white peach – I still have 2 of the creamier variety, so I won’t order yet. I’ll wait for black cherry. Is anything else coming out soon??? Merry Christmas!

I absolutely love this look! Do you happen to know of any other less expensive eyeshadow brands that could be used in place of the Armani Senso eyeshadow? I would REALLY love to know! Thank you! I am getting that lip liner for sure! Thank you for everything, Miss Cara! I hope you’ve had the most wonderful Christmas & New Year’s!! 🙂 You’re THE best!
