Monday Makeover – Joanne

Clue #2: I have a CRUSH on one of our new shades, spot the pin on our pinterest for the next clue!

DO you ever meet someone and before they even begin to speak you can just feel how warm and kind they are?
That’s Joanne.
I fell instantly in love with her. I think you can easily see her radiance and warmth in these photos as well!
She was getting some photos taken and wanted to look like herself but with a little extra glam.
Piece a cake;)

Photos by Jessica Janae (this is her mama!)

What I used:
IIID foundation for her skin & contouring in contour: stone + highlight: sunlit + blush: pink grapefruit + illuminator: pearl

Mac Brun to fill her brows

Lorac Pro Palette on her eyes in Gold & Taupe

Black liner around her inner rim.

OCC Lip liner in Sebastian

MAC Creme Cup lipstick

Esqido eye lashes in Little Black Lash

PS thank you soo much everyone who watched the show on Friday!! You are wonderful!

She looks beautiful. I always wonder what eye shapes look great with their inner eye lined (like Joanne) and who should avoid it. Have you ever done a tutorial on this in the past? Thanks so much!

I have wondered the same thing!! A tutorial would be awesome!

I have talked about how the inner rim does ‘technically’ make your eyes look smaller but I often use the technique on small eyes because it also makes your eyes look super bright and piercing so they grab a lot of attention still. I think there’s no one rule for it unless you are looking to make your eyes look especially big:)

I can’t find your holy grail lip liner (OCC Sebastian) anywhere! Has it been discontinued?

She linked it above… it takes you to a site where you can buy it. I’m assuming that means it hasn’t been discontinued. At least I hope not, if it still costs $16!

The link is to OCC liner in Pennyroyal not Sebastian and I don’t see Sebastian on the OCC website or anywhere else online.

Hi! I think I found it! I clicked on that link and it looks like Sebastian is available. It’s the last color on the bottom row. 🙂

Perfect! Thank you! I guess I was looking for a brownish-colored liner when it really looks somewhat purple online.

Wow, it looks like her eyes doubled in size. One of these days I’m going to get the hang of false lashes. The eyebrows make a big difference, too.

haha I know falsies are a pain! I have extensions now (which is still a time and $$ commitment) but not daily which is nice!! <3

What a beautiful transformation! However, I find the eyebrows to be a tad harsh on her face!

it’s so funny that you say that because as I was looking at the afters that was the one thing I would have changed myself. I don’t remember thinking that in person but it could have been missed. I was gabbing with her and sometimes I get side tracked when that happens! haha

I thought the same thing about the first ‘after’ shot but maybe it’s partially the lighting too? They look fabulous (as always!) in the second ‘after’ shot. regardless, you always do a great job!

You have a real knack for bringing out people’s eyes. She has stunning eyes to begin with but the make up you chose really enhances them.

On a separate note I have a sister who works at Albion Fit who mentioned you came in to buy a swimsuit several weeks ago. She mentioned this to me and I felt as if she had met a celebrity. We both were excited. The suit looked great on you by the way in your Hawaii pictures. So fun!

Another beautiful make-over. I’ve been searching your site for what you recommend for a translucent powder to set your make-up. Can you please give a recommendation … or point me to where it is already on your website? Thank you.

Beautiful! Do you have a post on a vintage look? I have a 20s themed function this weekend. Some of the looks I have seen are a bit too much for me, looking for a softer version.

I need help with an affordable (under $20) tinted moisturizer. I don’t see anything on your blog and i am in desperate need of opinions. I want something that has some evening tones but looks natural. I like to just add blush and eyeliner for a quick daily routine. Ive read some that say they improve skin texture after 2-3 weeks as well. Help 🙂

ok so I look at the first pic and think ok this woman is probably around my mom’s age. Maybe a little younger. But she has adult kids. And I look at the last picture and I think she looks 30-35. Wow! Amazing. Not that she NEEDED a makeover, but shoot a total knock out with a little effort. great job.

How does the OCC Sebastian compare to the NYX taupe that you’ve used in the past? I love the NYX color as a lip liner, but it doesn’t have great staying power. Is the OCC longer lasting AND about the same color? I’m about the same age as Joanne with adult children. When I use your makeup tips people say I look at least 10 years younger! Thank you, Cara!

I wonder if you could talk Jessica into scaling back from over-sharpening the eyes. I’ve noticed she always does this, and I think it gives the models such a weird alien look!!
