My Life Outfits

Nick and I planned a trip with both our parents and our boys to Hawaii a while back. We went last week and just got back (which was way too quick!) I was planning to blog while I was there but with all of the customer service I was also doing with the foundation, if I would have blogged also, I pretty much would have missed out on the whole vacation!
As a blogger, a business owner and a full time parent it’s sometimes hard to know how to balance it all. I’m constantly trying to figure it out!

Here are some of the highlights of the trip.

I’m wondering if we’ll ever get a photo with all 4 of us looking at the camera. Maybe when they’re teenagers:) In the meantime this is more realistic anyway…

Nick is ALWAYS much better at getting photos than I am. Always capturing the moment so I can just relax and enjoy it. He’s the best dad.

With Christian I gained 50 lbs and lost it super fast. With Billy I gained 40 and it’s coming off quite a bit slower. Having all those changes to my body that babies create takes time to get used to but for me having a good suit makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE! This one I talked about last week is so comfortable and flattering, it completely blew my expectations out of the water!

This was my favorite coverup. It felt so beachy, flowy and cute!

Mornings with these brothers and the sound of the ocean might have been the very best part.

OK I know he’s got some major snot in this photo but I had to show you his teething necklace. Sydney told me about the amber beads that help with the pain and drooling from cutting teeth. I thought it sounding a little crazy but she said it was working so I got one. I noticed right off the bat that he was drooling and fussing less but I kinda just thought, oh maybe he’s just over that phase for the time being. Except when I took it off and forgot to put it back on a few days later the drooling came right back! Call me a believer.

Christian had THE BEST time. He loves being with his grandparents because they are all so sweet to him and in a random turn of events one of our favorite couple friends was there with their kids in the exact same place at the same time we were so he even had some friends to play with as well. He was in heaven.

I was super nervous for the flight with the boys and I imagined everyone who saw us coming in would be praying we weren’t sitting next to them. I can’t tell you how impressed I was with the kind people sitting all around us though, so many people smiled warmly, talked to and played with the kids and offered to help if we needed it. Not one person acted at all irritated even when Billy had a few crying spells.  It made such a huge difference for us and I couldn’t have been more grateful!

I hope you guys had a good weekend, I’ve got some really fun stuff to show you this week!

Your photos are just beautiful of you and your lovely family. So happy you spent quality time making memories. It will be especially comforting especially when you get to my age. At 67 I cherish all the good memories that I made with my children. They grow up too fast, so remember to live in the moment and spend as much time as possible with them as you will never regret it and we, your customers don’t mind waiting for another e-mail. Thank you so much for sharing! Must get back to Hawaii as even though the skiing is fantastic here in the Northeast, a warm sandy beach sounds divine!!!!

I remember seeing this suit on keep and when you blogged about it and I think it is perfection. It looks just as great on a real person in real life as it does on the website. I love it on you.

Thank you for being so honest about your pregnancy weight gain and loss. I am 5 weeks postpartum and it makes me feel much more normal; seeing other ladies in Hollywood who snap back in like 2 weeks is frustrating and I have to remind myself, not normal. You look so beautiful and happy, thanks for sharing the family photos.

So beautiful! I always thought it was strange when people loved my baby’s chunky thighs, but not mine! 😉 hahaha!
Every time you post pictures and videos of your kids, we all see that amazing kind spirit of yours reflected in those small people you are raising. What a lucky world we are, getting to share it with you and the little versions of you!

Your family is beautiful and it was so important for you AND them that you didn’t bring any work with you. When you take care of yourself you’re better able to take care of your family. It’s kind of like when you’re traveling by plane and the flight attendant says, “Put the oxygen mask on you first and then help your family.” If you don’t have any oxygen, how are you going to help anybody?
So glad you got some oxygen!

I want to start by telling you how incredible you look. Seriously! You look like a model in that beautiful bathing suit. I mean that! Your family is beautiful but those pictures of the boys snuggling! Oh my heart, such sweet brothers! I know it is scary to travel with kids because of how people can react. I remember being on a flight home from Germany in college and a baby on the other side of the plane was crying a lot. Some people were being really mean to the poor mother who looked like she needed a drink, a hug and a nap. I got up and offered to walk the baby up and down the isle for her so she could eat her meal (it had gotten more than cold). I assured her I wasn’t going to run away with her baby (I mean where was I going anyway?) I walked and snuggled and sang to the baby for almost an hour and the sweet mom hugged me and thanked me for being kind to her. She had tears in her eyes. I told her it was no problem at all. It doesn’t take anything extra to be nice to people.

Cara, this was such a lovely post! <3 You look stunning and I hope you don't have image issues, because you are gorgeous, especially for a fresh mom (of two!). Your whole family is so lovely and it makes me happy to look at you all! Christian seems like such a darling, loving his younger brother and being cute under the linens. Your family posts make me fell that you are both very loving and affectionate parents. I feel cozy inside now. <3

Your family is SO beautiful! I’m sure if you hadn’t mentioned any baby weight we never would have guessed because you look ridiculously amazing. (Obviously it is different to other people because it’s hard to get used to changing bodies-i’m pregnant and it’s just crazy, so i gotcha)

You look so great Cara! Can you please give us the details on your hair and makeup routine while in Hawaii?? The humidity there always gets me when I visit there — it’s so different from the dry Intermountain west where I live. I’m always at a loss on how to handle the hair and makeup when I travel there. You definitely got it down!

Gorgeous. Thank you for being a real mom who is fantastically beautiful, yet very relatable. When I see your posts, I feel encouraged and uplifted, like I can be uniquely beautiful and work with what I do (and don’t) have. When I look at photoshopped, airbrushed pictures of hollywood moms, I just feel depressed (and somewhat disturbed) by how unattainable the images are. Thank you! Blessings as you work on finding the balance in life!

You are a stunning mother. Your boys are just as cute as it gets – I have a 16 month old son myself so I feel like I can say I know what I’m talking about. So glad you took some family time and got away! The makeup can wait. Speaking of which, got mine a few weeks ago and while I’m still trying to get te hang of it, I get tons of compliments when I wear it. I’m a pretty normal looking girl and that’s not normal for me, so props to your foundation!

Cara, What do you mean by “full time parent”? Just not sure what a “part time parent” would be.

    • Reply
      March 3, 2015 at 11:59 pm

I think maybe she means that she is still caring for her children while also blogging/running her business. I don’t think she meant it to mean how you’re looking at it: full time vs part time in that at some point, one stops being a parent. Although I know a few people who may qualify as being a part-time parent in that sense too;)

I feel the same way, with my 1st baby I lost the weight immediately and my body bounced right back. I am 3 months PPD with my second and the weight has come off much slower and my body definitely does not look the same after delivering a 10 pound baby. You look amazing though and you’re family is absolutely stunning.

Hi Cara! : ) awesome pictures. Im so jealous you got to visit hawaii. I miss it so much! I wanted to ask you about you’re beautiful bathing suit. I actually bought two from that website because yours looked so beautiful while still being modest. ive never paid more than maybe $15 for a bathing suit because ive never really felt comfortable in them or even thought i looked halfway decent to invest in an expensive one but im soo excited about these. How did you feel the sizes were? I didnt see anything about customer reviews on the website so kind of nervous about that. Any help you could give from your experience id really appreciate. Thank you and thanks for the amazing blogs. : )
