Friday Favs

I love this. One of the most comforting things for me to thing when I screw up is that I can learn from it, and move forward. I’m always gonna make mistakes but I’m learning, I’m getting better. The failures aren’t wasted on me, and that’s the important thing, right?

A couple of years ago one of my readers referred me to a blog that I quickly fell in love with. The Day Book. You follow it, right? She’s witty and funny and super relatable, her photos are beautiful and her writing puts most of the rest of the blogging world to shame:) Anyway, Sydney came to live in my town for a time and last week I got to spend the afternoon with her and her sweet babes.  Don’t you just love it when you meet someone you already admire and they are EXACTLY who you thought they were? Well, that’s what happened here. What a lovely gal. I might even talk her into being my makeover monday soon:) If you haven’t already seen her blog it is a MUST.

This list of words that cannot be translated in English is pretty great. I vote we make words for these things PRONTO. Especially Tartle, cause that’s a situation I’ve been in too many times to count. (I have introduction anxiety. I could forget my brothers name if I was put on the spot to introduce him!) Also, Age-otori. That happens in America too.

Remember when we were talking skimpy swimsuits a few weeks back? Well, as usual your help lead me to just the right one. This GORGEOUS gown style suit is basically stolen from my dreams.

I’m going to be on Good Things Utah this morning if anyone in this fine state would like to watch!

This week has been super skimpy on posts. My house is up to the rafters in bubble mailers and makeup. It should be calming down soon though!

Have a fun weekend! Love you!

I love when bloggers I follow meet up and/or are friends! I’m not sure why, but it gives me that same feeling as when real life friends from different areas click, and then we’re all best friends together…even though I’ve never met any of the bloggers I follow… Anyone else feel like this? Or am I just a weirdo? haha! Please talk her into doing a makeover Monday! (Not that she isn’t already gorgeous like whoa – I just want to see more of her.) 🙂

The word list is so cute, I love the diversity of languages! I can contribute with a Polish word “łuna”, which means something between ‘afterglow’ and ‘halo’ 😀 I’m also surprised “je ne sais quoi” didn’t make it to the list!

Omg your brilliant! I got your HAC pack yesterday and just tried it this morning and it looks AMAZING and is soooo easy! I was very skeptical at first and kind of felt like a clown putting on contouring color bc it was so dark but I followed your video on maskcara cosmetics site and it looked amazing after all said and done. I was thinking id have to do some serious blending after to make it look natural but I didn’t have to do any. The creams go on so easy and is mistake proof (meaning you can easily fix what you screwed up with your finger). Feels super light weight and doesn’t look like I’m wearing any makeup. I love love love!! And packaging is so easy and so cute! Your a genious!

Can’t wait to try your IIID foundation! It should be getting to me this week! I bet you have been swamped with shipping them out! Thank you for all that you do! I love your blog and was inspired to start blogging myself about a year and a half ago.:) not sure if you are an I love Lucy fan but when you mentioned your home being full of orders to ship it reminded me of one of her episodes where she sells some homemade salad dressing and her entire apparent is packed with 1000’s of orders. 🙂 best wishes!

So I really never make comments on blogs of people I don’t know but I felt I had to today and say thank you! I had great skin as a teen but as soon as I hit 20 it freaked out and has kind of been a problem even since (I’m 34 now). Adult zits, what’s that all about!? So frustrating. And I feel like I’ve tried it all (so this quote is very fitting 😉 I just found your blog like a month ago and got really excited about using a cleansing balm. I am loving it and it has made such a difference! On top of that, I wore your iiid foundation today and I was actually told I have beautiful skin…twice! What!? I almost had to double take to make sure they were actually talking to me. Not sure if I have been told that in 15 years. So thank you thank you! I know looks aren’t the most important thing, truly, but it made me feel so good and confident. Keep up the good work!!

That’s a great quote indeed. Those who don’t try can’t make mistakes. Those who do sometimes fail but also grow and learn.

Cara, why aren’t you answering questions about your make up? Where can we go on more tips and tricks? I haven’t received anything and its 6 weeks now.

I received my empty box last week and cried. Customer services said they would replace it immediately but have not gotten any notifications that its been resent. Just Ordered the brush and was notified it will take 2-4 weeks. It’s still considered a preorder? blushes are coming “shortly after” and wont be part if my initial order. Don’t know what “shortly after ” means since its been 6 weeks. Sadly moving on.

I think she’s skipped answering several questions about the new makeup because they’ve already been answered whether it was in response to an earlier comment or something she added to the original posts about this generation. What specific questions do you have? Maybe we can help you find the answers. The bulk of the information is in the D Tails post/comments (

As far as the shipping you probably need to send an e-mail with your order number so that she can look it up.

I can give you information about the shipping on mine and maybe it will give an additional frame of reference based on your specific details- I received my order confirmation e-mail 3 minutes after launch (1/12/15 at 9:03PM ET), then the e-mail she sent everyone about some people missing that it was a pre-order that was expected to ship in 2-4 weeks, then I received the Order shipped message on Friday 2/13/15. The tracking showed that it should have arrived on Tuesday, 2/17/15, but it was delayed due to weather and so it came on Wednesday, 2/18/15 (went from UT to TN).

My order was missing the blush, but had a card providing a store credit because the blush was unexpectedly delayed. I think Cara has also mentioned either here or on instagram that she was a couple days delayed in shipping on her end as well. You pile all that together (trying to wait for the blush to arrive before starting to ship, a couple of days delay due to life, and weather delays across the country over the last 2 weeks) and it easily pushes the date out a week or so.

Also, assuming she’s basically shipping chronologically based on the time the order was placed, sheer volume could be a factor, too as I don’t know how many orders were placed or how long it takes her to actually sort and package everything for delivery. Hopefully the timeline of my order gives you another way to estimate when you might receive your package, but I’ve seen her say several times to e-mail her with your order number if you have concerns and she’ll check on it for you.

Cara, with the first gen IIID makeup you also recommended an ELF small stipple brush. Would that work with this newest formulation? I’m waiting for my makeup to arrive and can’t wait to use it but wanted to know if my ELF brush I used with your old generation would still work well. I’d rather spend my hard earned money on your make up rather than another brush! Thanks for your reply. I know there are a few of us wondering.

Hey Cara, I got my new make up and the colors are great for my skin! I’m having trouble with the make up settling in my t zone and not blending great….I have combination skin with an oily t zone. I’ve been using moisturizer and a primer underneath but I’m not loving the finish? What suggestions do you have? I want to love this make up!

Cara, I love the new IIID foundation!!!!
Didn’t have much luck with the make up last year but this new product is really nice…totally different texture, easier to work with and it lasts!
I apply with the double ended IT brush and my skin looks velvety and flawless…I look forward to applying it every day.
.Haven’t received blush yet but I am getting great results with the highlighter, contour and illuminator .
