Pretty Picks

I’m hosting  2 contests  for winning a $45 gift card at Sally Beauty & they are also giving away a tote to anyone who spends $45 in store! So along with the details on how to enter I thought I’d round up my list of must have’s that I’d choose with the winnings:

picks

1. Everytime I go to the pool I swear I’m not going to get my hair wet..and every single time I change my mind half way through cause I’m sick of trying not to get splashed! I really notice a difference in my hair when I’ve been swimming a lot too. Even though I’m not blonde I have highlights and they get green easily. If and when they do one treatment with this baby and it’s gone!

2. I swear by duck clips for bouncy long lasting curls. I’ve tried getting the cheaper ones at drugstores and they are just too weak and slip right out of my hair. So if you’ve tried using duck clips and had that same result, try these. It makes a huge difference (Here’s a tutorial when I used them to create BIG hair!)

3. I’m in love with this antique pink color. So gorgeous. Sweet Memories

4.  I used to LOVE using K-Pack from Joico is a deep conditioning treatment every once in a while because it does MIRACLES on my hair but the price is hefty. I tried this just in case once and I honestly can’t tell the difference. For a smidgen of the cost I haven’t looked back.

5. I’ve talked about this beautiful nude liner a bunch of times. It’s a fantastic color and it’s SO inexpensive.

6. Remember while back when we were all struggling with the Tomas nozzle? Well our voices were heard!! If you see this new packaging snatch it up because the nozzle and the continuous spray is better than ever. NO more splotches and the color is at perfection!

I forgot one of my favorite things! (well there are a lot of things not on the list – curling irons, Tanwise etc) but these I could still fit with the $45 limit!
Face Razors!  I swear by these things cause I HATE waxing and these do the job of getting rid of side burns and fuzz without the pain. A lot of ladies are afraid of shaving their face but it’s actually kind of exfoliating and it totally won’t make hair grow in thick, that’s an old wives tale:) Here’s a video from MM&L all about it.

Contest one: Win a $45 gift card and a “Skype Beauty Consolation” with me where we can chat about how to use your card and I can answer any other beauty questions you have!

I do LOVE the Tanwise though, but did discover you really have to make sure it gets good and dry before you cover it up or put anything against it like a car seat. Every part of me was beautifully tan except the backs of my thighs from rubbing on the car seat….and I thought it was really dry long before I got in! Nothing a cute skirt couldn’t hide… 🙂

    Hi Cara,

I agree with you on the nude liner; it can be found at any Sally’s up by the cash register, have been using it for at least ten years, and probably longer!

Secondly, HELP! I am desperate to find a translucent, loose, no-color, facial powder compatible to Sally Hansen’s CORNSILK (30-02). I even ordered what was just called Cornsilk with the same logo from a company in the UK, but it throws gray. Who wants to look dead? Cornsilk is/was made of walnut shells, but velvety soft in the skin.

There are some sellers of this face powder, who must have bought out the last of this as it was being discontinued, selling it for $40 a box! It used to sell for $3.50 and was better than the high-end department store brand names we are all familiar with. Do you know of a comparable powder?

    Thank you,
    Diana

I like e.l.f High Definition powder or NYX Studio Finishing powder. I am pretty sure they’re both dupes for Makeup For Ever’s HD powder. They are white in the box but very, very fine and go on translucent.

Hair rejuvenation and a little bit of self-tanner to see me through until the weather cools off soon! My hair feels like straw thanks to the beauty of ombre, and once the sun no longer causes my vampiric legs to damaged people’s retinas I can let up on the ST…but for now, a little glow takes the edge off (and makes wearing white an actual study of contrasts, ha).

I would spend the $45 on the generic K-pak, lots of bobby pins (that my 11 year old just learned how to use and lose) and the rest, towards extention clips! I chopped my hair last year when my sister was diagnosed with cancer, and IT IS NOT growing back very fast…it only grows fast when i’m pregnant, and I think I’m done with that. 🙂

I would buy mousse (or something) for my hair. I have wavy hair that always needs to be styled … which is preferably blowdrying & straightening or curling loose waves (no time for that before work).

So I usually just throw some mousse in, blowdry my front pieces/side bangs so they aren’t out of control and go with a natural/wavy look. However, lately my hair looks drab and with too much product. I need help! Would love to win this gift card & your assistance.

I’d like to try a wand curling iron and/or hot rollers! I know they’re old fashioned (I remember my mom using them when I was a kid), but the convenience is enticing!

I would LOVE a great natural bristle brush, hair color and conditioner. Sally’s my go-to store when I’m serious about a product for my hair… and of course, their nude lip liner is the best. You also talked me into the white for highlighting and now I’m addicted!
