My First EVER makeover video!

makeoverstill
It feel like it’s been such a long time coming but I’m so happy to finally show you the makeover goods ON VIDEO!
I was still pretty sick back when I filmed this so please excuse my hashbrown hair…

Just an amazingly simple look, huh?

What I used:

Stila Illuminating BB Cream
MAC Brun Shadow on the brows
MAC Shadow in Gorgeous Gold on her lids
MaskCara IIID Foundation in Medium
Maskcara Blush in Jem (on lips and cheeks!)
NYX Taupe liner on her lips in addition to some Dior Lip Glow on top
IT Cosmetics Illuminator
UD Setting Spray

Thanks so much for checking it out!
Hope you all are having a great week so far:)

What an awesome job on the makeover! I so enjoyed the video showing how you created her look! I want to eventually do some You Tube videos, just trying to get the nerve up and figure out how to upload with lousy internet service, until then and afterward I will continue with my blog! Hope you and anyone else that is interested in reading another beauty blog will just click on my name and check my blog out!

Thanks for the video!!! But one thing that I really need is a pretty heavy-duty concealer. I am a redhead and instead of getting dark circles under my eyes, I get really red around my eyes (my whole face really). I need something that doesn’t wipe off so easily. Any recommendations?? Thanks!

Wooohooo first video makeover! Congrats Cara! It looks great and such a difference for so little makeup and quick too!

Because I’m sure you want to hear not just praise but also some ideas on what could make this even more awesome, here are two. First, I noticed that the half of the face you were doing the makeover on was the half that was in the shadow which made it a bit hard to see. I know doing it on the other side would have you blocking the light from the window. So I am thinking may be have an artificial light source at the model’s face that is between you and the model so you’re never blocking it and so you can point it at the side of the face you’re working on.

My second suggestion is to add the Dior lipglow to the list of products. Not a very imp. suggestion but I thought to mention anyway.

Here’s to many more video makeovers!!! YAY!

That was awesome & so helpful to see how you actually do these makeovers – yes definitely more tutorials please! I would love to hear if you have a preference or tips for the shape of the start of the eyebrow, that is, the start point beginning of the brow – should it be rounded, or more of a straight / angled line? I hope that makes sense! Thanks Cara, love your work! xo

Hi! I know that you speed up the video because there’s a lot of time spent on blending or doing the “other” repeat side of the face. Would you consider posting the full makeover (if anyone is interested) too? It will give a better sense of the total time and give us a way to see some full steps twice. (Obviously the shortened video is perfect and will appeal to a larger quick-view audience so I’m not suggesting not to post that one. )

Also, any update on Shark Tank!?

This tutorial just made me feel SO much more comfortable with using it. I’m going to dig it out from hiding today and play around with it. Love the video. She’s gorgeous! Amazed at how quickly you completed this look. I clicked the link for the highlighter and I was taken to an IT powder illuminator. Did you actually use the “Hello Light Anti-Aging Luminizing Creme Stick?” Just wondering because I want to make sure I buy the right thing. Loved the look.

Also, how did you apply the Jem blush on the brush? I have been putting it on my face and then stippling it in. Did you put it directly on the brush? How much? I’ve had trouble making the Jem blush I have look that natural. Can’t wait to use it as a lip color!

I am using a concealer to cover the blue vein under my eye. How should I use your highlighter? Do I apply the highlighter over the concealer? I’m not sure I want to highlight under the eyes as I’m trying to draw attention away from the discoloration and puffiness. Can you demonstrate the correct application for this issue in another video? Thanks! It really helps to see you in action.

I’m just wondering what brush you use to apply the darker contouring shade? Maybe you say it in the video but I don’t have sound on this computer πŸ™ None of the brushes I own will pick up either color very well. I have the medium shade, in case that makes a difference. I’ve had the best luck with a damp makeup sponge so far.

I have a real weird question! I lave my makeup in the car- bc I do it in the car (I know, horrible habit!!) but if live in TN where the summers get pretty hot and humid. How bad is it for my makeup to sit in the heat all day?

I would be afraid that they would spoil faster. A lot of liquids have an expiration date, and the heat & humidity could possibly allow bacteria to grow more easily.
That being said, I tend to keep even my liquid makeup forever and ever, so, it’s just kinda one of those things. I would be more concerned about leaving mascaras though. You wouldn’t want bacteria to grow and end up with an eye infection :/

I noticed you used Brun on her brows… What is your opinions on blondes with dark eyebrows? Whenever I use powder, my hair is so light it looks totally 80s Madonna because I have such a contrast between my brows and hair naturally.

I am a natural blonde and my eyebrows are almost invisible, so dark brows look a bit crazy on me, too. I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in blonde/warm gold. The sephora people recommended it to me. It makes my brows stand out and look defined without being too 80’s Madonna. When I want my brows extra bold (but still natural), I start with the NYX taupe liner (that Cara used in the video) to fill in a little, then blend and go over it with the brow powder. Hope that helped, fellow blonde πŸ™‚

Were those your model’s natural eyelashes or were they extensions or fakes? They were gorgeous! I’m a strawberry blonde with blonde brows and lashes. I’ve had them tinted but that doesn’t add length. I’m wondering if extensions are worth the $$ and time. I’ve heard when they come out they take your own lashes with them so I”m wary.

Kathleen, sorry for a late reply on this. I work in the beauty industry as an esthetician, and I go to get eyelash extensions. So worth it! Saves me time getting ready and if u go to a good person that knows what they are doing, my own eyelashes are not damaged at all! Wish I had gotten them forever ago πŸ˜‰ hope this helps!

I love this! I’ve seen you use the Stilla Illuminator a lot, and I’m curious if it would work for me with my semi-breakout-prone skin. I’d also love some tips on how to get bronzer to stay where I put it! I’m a recent recruit to HACing and makeup-wearing in general, and I’m using the It Cosmetics vitality face disk (suggested by the girl at Ulta). I feel like I either have to cake it on or it fades away quickly, especially on my nose and under my cheekbones. Would using a liquid be better? Maybe I’ll try yours once the medium comes back in stock πŸ˜‰

I love your videos, they’re so inspiring! For the first time ever I feel like I know what I’m doing (and that it actually looks good) when I apply makeup. Keep ’em coming!

She’s gorg and I’m a huge fan of you and your awesomeness. To keep her a little younger, I would have filled in the brows, but kept them further apart (like they were) and would have skipped the highlight on the chin, because it is already a little strong. My two cents.
