Makeup My Life

Birthday Makeup

I’m addicted to this makeup right now.
I’ve probably used this exact tutorial on myself 4 times this week, which is pretty ground breaking because I hardly ever wear makeup 4 times in a week as it is lately….or…ever.
I hope you love it as much as I do.
And please forgive my low energy in the video, I’ll be 20 weeks in such a short time and I’m hoping that means my usually non-sickly self will be back:)

What I used:

Milk Pure Argan oil
Hour Glass Veil Mineral primer
Eyeshadow (for brows) in Brun
YSL Touche Eclat Foundation in Beige Dior 40
IIID Foundation in Dark
Maskcara Princess Peach Blush
Pretty Rebel Palette in Ringleader & Gangsta
Clinique Kohl shaper
Esquido BFF Lashes
Taupe Liner on lips
Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara
YSL Rouge Volupte in Lingerie Pink
Lip Tar in Hollywood
Setting spray – Urban Decay All Nighter

Some other budget choices:
For foundation try Stila Illuminating BB cream it’s got a similar glowy effect.
Try Flower Kiss in Gladiola if you’re not quite ready to splurge for the YSL one:)
For the liner Silkissime is an awesome alternative.

Have such a fun weekend!

I noticed you’re using IIID in dark now. I’ve been dying to try your IIID foundation and always thought of myself as ‘medium’ because my skin tone is close to your own. Did you change it up because you’re a little more tan? Love your tutorials!

Yes! I think with my hair lighter I feel a little more comfortable being a little more tan so I’ve been loving the dark!

cara, the medium suits you so much better. Dark makes you look ashy. i tell you ths because i care.

I cara….do you have any alternative eyeshadow options from a different palate….maybe from stilla in the light by chance?

I typically use the IID in medium (like you) and want to know if you are using the highlighter in the dark as well as the contouring. I may buy the dark but thought the highlighter would be too dark on me.

I did use the the highlight in the dark but I’m pretty tan in this photo! If you have a little more color this spring/summer it would probably work great!

It tickles me to death to see that you used Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara!!! I’m a consultant and it makes my heart happy to see someone like you, with so much influence, using such a great product of ours 🙂 If you’ve not used it, we’ve got a great new Lengthening Mascara too. Let your consultant know, and if you don’t have a regular one…..ummmm hi 🙂

Hi Andi! I’ve been hearing all about the mascara and was dying to try it but I didn’t know any mary kay consultants so I just grabbed it off Amazon. Will you be my new Pink Lady!? I’d love to try the lengthening too! (maybe cocktail them?) How do I order through you?

Hi Cara! You look fantastic and I truly love your blog. You look like you have a tan…are you using the tanwise?

      April 25, 2014 at 9:34 am

Thank you so much! I am using tanwise! Totally in love with it. Although on my face I still you the Tomas, which is a spray formula which I really love for faces but it’s more of a bronzer than a tanner for me. (meaning it doesn’t last more than one day) Hopefully I didn’t just confuse you more!

I really like how we got to see the make up in different lighting. It’s obviously the same look but it also looks really different in the selfie than it does in the video. I found that helpful. 🙂

I hope you feel better, soon. I started to feel more like myself around 18 or 19 weeks. Of course, now I’ve only got 6ish weeks left and I’m uncomfortable in new and different ways!

The make-up is gorgeous! I’m always amazed at what an old pro you are. I don’t consider myself a beginner when it comes to make-up, but it would take me MUCH longer to put just the eyeliner on. You’re awesome 😉 Hope you start to feel better soon. I remember at about 23 weeks, being shocked when I could suddenly keep things down. Thanks for the beautiful tutorial!

Cara, are you using the Tanwise facial stuff that I noticed you can buy (it’s like a gel) or do you use the tanwise foam all over, including your face? Cara, this is one of my favorite looks that you have done! I just ordered the HAC in dark with the princess peach blush in anticipation of some summer sun (although I currently have the HAC in medium since right now it is more spring rain than summer sun =-) ). Similar to Kelly’s comment, I’m wondering if you know of any eyeshadows that are similar to dainty? I don’t think I’d use most of the other colors in that palette but I love that pink! I’ve googled but not found anything particularly useful.

Kelly- I also googled Gangsta and there were a few options. If you have the naked 2 palette, snakebite was listed as pretty close, but I don’t recall the others. I think it was temptalia that had it swatched side by side with some that are similar.
