Hair Hair Tutorials Tips & Tricks

Tip Tuesday: MAJOR VOLUME!

It’s not like you need beehive hair every day of the week or anything ,

But every now and again you really just..want some big old Texas style hair

Simple tip for getting BIG hair!

and on those days? Ratting alone, will not cut it.

You need to pull out and dust off the big guns.
You gotsta grab your crimper.
My lovely sister Rachel modeled for this for me:)
All you do is take sections underneath your top layer of hair and crimp the section directly at the root.
The more sections you crimp and the closer they are together the bigger it will get.
Works like a charm.
I also wanted to share a little raffle I’m doing with a few other bloggers and a 7 days of summer giveaway!
I’m giving away a HAC Pack to the winner so be sure to enter!
a Rafflecopter giveaway

Hope you had the most lovely Easter weekend!

Great idea… but where in the world did you get a tiny crimper? Or is that a straightener?

I use the Sam Villa Textur iron on my daughter’s hair and it works amazing! She has baby fine hair and I use the Textur iron just like Cara does in this technique, at the base, to create volume right at the scalp. The texture stays in all day and when it begins to fall flat you can just rub your fingers through the hair to bring back the volume. You will seriously love this technique. I also use the iron to texturize my daughter’s entire head or just strands that I want to braid. This literally expands the hair shaft and makes the hair easier to braid and wear into different updos – especially for fine hair…ones that can’t even hold a braid. Try it, you’ll freak! I used promo code MML and received 20% off my order, I’m sure the code is still active.

Great Idea! I have an interview this week and I am going to put my hair in a bun, but it will also need a tad bit of volume. I wonder if this works with a bun!

That’s a really great tip, I will have to share it with my daughter.

Wow! I can’t wait to try this! My husband loves my hair straight, but I always feel like I look like a water balloon exploded on my head and left it limp. I also have a particularly small head in proportion to the rest of me. I hope this works…and yes, where did that teeny crimper come from?

Great idea … love how you made it just about the hair and didn’t have your naturally beautiful sister get the full makeup on too to glamorize the after photo. 😉

Oh no Cara! I am so bummed! I just noticed that your IIID Foundation has Bismuth Oxychloride in it. I think that this is what has caused me YEARs of pain and suffering with severe cystic acne and everlasting scars. I only noticed my acne going away after using less and less make up, especially foundation, including powder foundation. I’m so torn. I’m just not sure it’s worth the risk to try it but I really wanted to use your IIID Foundation and have been waiting for medium to be back in stock. 🙁

Oh man! I am so sorry to hear that! When the medium does come back into stock it will be a new formula and I’m not sure yet if that is an ingredient still but I will keep you updated!

I have never seen a giveaway when you follow someone on Instagram that you have to tag friends. I have only ever had to follow them. I haven’t the slightest idea how to tag people. Can anyone please help me? Thank you so much!

Yes! You just use the @ sign and your friends name in the caption, does that make sense?

I feel like this is exactly what I didn’t know I was looking for! I have super fine hair so I typically rat my hair for a tiny boost (so I look normal, not beehive-ish), and this looks so much easier & with more staying power. Thanks so much for the tip!!

If you can find a way to make CURLS (from curling irons/hot rollers) last all day for someone who has straight to semi-wavy hair, you will be my hero… and I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist for 12 years. I’ve used all of the products (obviously), I’ve gone to countless continuing education classes… nobody has been able to give me something that actually works. I’ve even tried pinning the curls after curling to allow them to set. Spraying before and after (with both hairspray and thermal setting spray). I’ve tried lotions, mousses, I obviously use professional-grade styling tools…

Seriously, you’d be my hero. I strongly encourage you to look into this. Haha!

Have you tried the NuMe curling wands? I have used everything, and this is the only curler that makes lasting curls. The first half of my hair used to be flat by the time I finished curling the other side! Now I can wear my hair curly for two days.

WHERE has this been all my life? I have the classic thin, flat hair and I’ve tried just about every product under the moon. Can’t wait to give this a try and judging by the comments, it works really well!
Love the mini crimper by the way!

You can’t find these mini-crimpers (or ANYTHING like it) in the stores anymore. I searched Walgreens, Target, K-Mart, Walmart and Ulta. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. So much for instant gratification. It looks like I’m going to have to order one off Amazon!
