    • There’s a video tutorial in the post (if you’re looking from a phone sometimes they don’t pick up videos, so try checking it from a computer maybe?)

  1. Love it!! How long did it take you to curl your whole head? I have long hair (down to my bra strap) so it takes me forever to curl it and it gets a little discouraging, not to mention the arm workout! You look beautiful, Cara!

  2. I love this length and style. I just trimmed bangs on my daughter and thought about getting the rest cut into long layers to give it volume. This is perfect. I am trying this look on myself today to see if I can pull it off. Stunning as always!

  3. Good God, you look gorgeous! I love the hair but have to know which tanner you have on your face/neck!! Is it the Tanwise? I bought some but haven’t tried it yet. Anyway, you look beautiful! I’m in my 3rd trimester & I’m starting to feel like a blob. I need to do something to make me feel pretty ;)

    • Thank you so much! I’m so jealous you’re already in your third trimester! I feel like a blob already! So excited for you to have that beautiful baby in your arms! ( also I’m wearing the Tomas on my face and the tanwise on my body in this one!)

  4. Love this hair! Anytime I’ve tried in the past my hair ends up looking like a hot mess. Maybe your tips will help it look like a controlled mess!

  5. Watching your videos is like being with a friend who knows how to do all fun girly stuff I never quite learned! Thank you!

  6. I love this hair look! Our hair length is about the same, I would love to see or read a more detailed tutorial on it. You can even just shoot me an email w/ instructions if you don’t have to time to do a post on it. I really would love to know how you did it!! I have a hard time finding ways to style this length of hair. I would also love for you or any of your readers to join me on Beth and Beauty’s Funday Friday Comments Tag, I have created this tag to try to get to know my readers/subscribers and fellow bloggers better while at same time they can get to know me better. There are beauty, fashion, home decor and even some personal questions for you to choose from!! I need people to participate for this tag to work. My comments are not restricted. To find my blog all you have to do is click on my name above.

    • You are so so sweet. These comments really made my day, being pregnant sometimes makes me feel so frumpy at this stage so you really brightened my day!!

  7. love this! can’t wait to try it! have you used a curling wand before? would it work for this look as well? Thanks for sharing! I like your new cut a lot!!

  8. This looks great. My hair is this length right now so this is perfect!

I have a product question, though. I don’t own texturizing spray but I do have hair spray and dry shampoo. What does the texturizing spray do that I can’t do with the dry shampoo and hair spray? Is it just that it’s the combination of hold and texture in a single product?

  9. I don’t know if it’s because you are pregnant or what, but you have seriously never looked more stunning.
    GORGEOUS!!!

  10. I love your hair so very much. How knew short hair would look better on u then long hair. And congrats on the baby boy! I hope Christian is okay. Give him an extra scoop of ice cream for us.

  11. You look so fresh and ready for spring with that cut. I especially love the hair color…. Congrats on your baby boy! What a beautiful family you have.

  12. You look gorgeous as always. And these are really awesome tips. I know it will help me control the chaos my hair can be. How log did it take you to complete this hairstyle? I want to be realistic when giving my hubby my beauty time estimates. And i know you said you highlighted your hair recently what exactly did you do? I love it for dark haired girls to go for that summer lighter look.

Beautiful hair once again… I can’t wait to try it out!

  13. Same as the others – would love to know how! If it took you 15 times, the lord only knows how long it would take me to figure it out! My hair is about to my bra-strap – is that still doable with this style?

  14. This post is just what I needed!! Today is a bad hair day even for this messy hair lovin’ chic. I am just going to go recurl now I think. Also, Cara have you tried Rusk hairspray? It is my fav. It holds the curls and doesn’t make your hair feel hard or gross. I can go 4-5 days using it and not wash. Oh and it smells amaze-balls!

  15. I can’t wait to try this method! I had my hair cut to this length about 6 months ago and have had the HARDEST time styling it. Not sure why but I guess I was just too used to long hair! Also, would you please tell me where your sweater is from? I love that color! Thanks!

  16. I love this hair color on you! It’s gorgeous :) I was wondering if you could maybe post a wedding makeup look? Thanks Cara, you’re amazing!

  17. You look stunning! The subtle highlights in your hair are fantastic, and I don’t know if you’re tan or just using bronzer, but it looks amazing. So summery!!

  18. I love choppiness of this style ! But when I do it it just looks like I only curled parts of my hair. Any hints about how to get a more cohesive look?

  19. Cara, you totally made me feel better! I got my hair cut the same length a month ago and I’ve been kicking myself because I miss the longer length, plus I don’t know what to do with my hair, but now that I’ve seen this video I think I can do this! Thank you so much!! Alisa

  20. Love the look and just cut my hair two weeks ago so will be trying this on the weekend. Wanted to know what your favourite hairspray (drugstore and high end) is and if you could add them to your pretty list. I know you mentioned on from VS backstage and would like to know. Thanks!

  21. Thanks so much! This has really inspired me! I’ve been in a bit of a bun funk lately…just pulling my hair back and moving on with my day…but I can’t wait to try this one. I’ve also been thinking about doing some highlights for summer and this clinched it!

  22. THANK YOU CARA!! I recently cut off 10 inches and have been going crazy trying to make my curls look natural and beachy again! Sah great!

  23. Ok so I did it today for my sons baseball game. Was a perfect do! I changed up the texturizing spray. I wanted to try it today, was in a pinch, and found beach babe by Not your mother’s. I think it worked well. Keep on postin’!

  24. Cara, I am so excited for tutorials on this length! As a fellow “long-hair addict” I had a bit of a hard time learning to style my long bob (I had to cut it as well due to excessive colour damage). This is super pretty and I love that it doesn’t look TOO polished :) I’d love to see more style ideas for this length of hair! You look even more radiant than usual and congratulations on the wee one xxx

  25. Hi! What is your current haircolor called?. Love it. Also your hair looks lighter in the still photos but in the tutorial looks quite a bit darker. I’m guessing this is just different lighting. Anyhow, it looks wonderful. Just found your site and am enamored.

  27. Hi Cara! As a woman of color, it can be hard to find a bronzer that actually adds some color and life. Could you do a tutorial on bronzers for women of color? Also, I find it really hard to add pops of color to eye makeup without looking like a performance artist. Any tips? Perhaps a tutorial on that too?! ;-)

  28. Cara! I love this hairstyle! I tried it this morning and am beyond pleased. Followed your instructions to the letter and it worked perfectly. Way easier AND faster than my normal curling methods too. Sharing with all my sisters immediately. You are heaven sent. Congrats on baby boy #2! So happy for you and your darling family!

  29. Cara, you are absolutely gorgeous. I am going to echo everyone else here and say that you have an amazing pregnancy glow! I know you miss your long hair, but I love this length on you. My hair is about the same length, so I am LOVING that you are doing these tutorials. I have the Redken Wool Shake, which I know you like. Would that be too heavy to use instead of the Oscar Blandi?

  30. What adjustments would you make for shorter hair? I have a shoulder length a-line and I have a seriously hard time getting that messy bed head look.

    Thanks!!

  31. You look so beautiful & your new hair length is very becoming! Also the color is somewhat lighter & I love it on you. Thanks for all your tips & info. Hope you are feeling better now.

  32. Hi Cara! I’ve been following you for quite a while (ever since your post on the Sally Hansen Airbrush legs), but I’m finally coming out of the woodwork ;) LOVE everything you post!

This video was SO useful for me! It’s hard to find a lot of how-to’s for medium length hairstyles. I especially, tend to end up with a big fro-like hairstyle when I attempt to curl mine. Looking forward to trying this =) Thanks again!

  33. I love this tutorial! I’ve been thinking about buying the OB texture spray, and you just sold me on it! I’ve missed your tutorials! You look amazing and I’d love to see a tutorial on the simple makeup look you are wearing in this video. :-)

  34. Cara, you look beautiful!! I love the hair and you’re absolutely glowing :) Do you think you’ll be doing more hair tutorials in the near future? Your cut (and hours on Pinterest) convinced me to chop off mine, too, and I have no idea what to do with it!

  35. For longer hair (to the middle of the back) would you just suggest a larger curling iron? It seems like part of the beachiness is because you are only wrapping it once most of the time. I tried doing that with my 1 1/4 a couple of weeks ago and it was too straight at the bottom, but wrapping more than once made it more “little girl curls.” I didn’t switch up the angle of the curling iron though, just direction.

  36. Cara! Thanks for this :) I have been dying to take off length, but I am hesitant because of lack of body in my hair. I have a burning question though! I see you use curling irons mostly. Do you ever use styling wands?? Why do you prefer curling irons more? Just curious :) love the results you get after finding new techniques <3 looking natural is my number one priority so this blog has been a gold mine. XOXO -Sara Black

  37. So natural & cute. How do you style your 2nd day bed head & not look slept on? Do you typically have to recurl pieces or can you shake it out & go? What’s day 2 styling look like?

  38. Love it!!! Your hair is the same length as mine, so this is perfect. I adore the bedhead look – sexy but not at all overdone. I love how easy you make this seem to do! Question: do you need to use texturizing spray or can you just use hairspray? Out of the millions (probably 100 lol) of hair products I own, I have like ten hair sprays but no texturizing spray :(

  40. I’m SO glad you did a hair tutorial! These have always been my favorite posts of yours (though I love them all). I love your hair this length. Mine is almost the exact same length right now, and I’ve been trying to find a tutorial for this type of style. It’s perfect. Congrats on the baby boy! I’m so happy for you. <3 Muah!

  42. DO you have a tutorial on what you do with your hair at night. I like to go 3-4 days without watching my hair, but sometimes it starts to feel so dry and like horse hair when I don’t wash it. Also do you just put it in a bun when you sleep?

  44. I have shoulder length hair and I have been curling it like this for a while now. But it just didn’t stay and give me that bed head vibe that I was going for. Your tricks and tips just made it so much better, so thank you!

  45. I just wanted to thank you so very mucho for this tutorial!! My hair has just gotten to the point of being able to curl and I the way was curling it has nothing to do with how you do it. I did my hair just like you said and I’ve gotten lots of compliments and I just woke up with awesome curly hair again! Thank thank thank you.

  46. I have never commented on a blog post before but felt compelled to reply to this one… I also never do much with my hair because I’m not very good at it; plus, I bike to work and live in Texas (where it’s God awful hot most of the year), so my usual style is scraped back into a messy bun. However, this style is so pretty and your tutorial made it seem simple enough. I gave it a try and in spite of not even having had a haircut in 2 months (long time for a shoulder length bob), it turned out amazing!!! Thank you so much! Now I at least have one nice go-to thing I can do with my hair! I’ve been reading your blog for a while and it’s really inspired me to want to do nicer, more fun things with my hair and makeup. I thank you (and my husband thanks you too, I’m sure). xoxo

  47. ohmygod thank you! im cutting my long hair off and I was TERRIFIED that there would be minimal styles I could do with it. It would be amazing if you could post more about styling mid-length to short hair!!! You’ve given me hope. ;) thank you!!!

  48. Perfect!!! I just donated 14 1/2 inches of my hair and its this length!! I feel like I have a little girl hair cut but this will def turn that around!!!
