Before & Afters Makeup

Makeover Monday, Rachel & Glamorous Photos Contest

Today’s makeover is of a very beautiful woman named Sandra. She is my sister Rachel’s mother in law.
Originally from brazil she met her husband David while he was visiting her country, they became good friends and eventually she agreed to move to the states and marry him. I love hearing him describe the day he watched her get off the plane. She was wearing a white dress and her long gorgeous blue black hair was blowing around her smiling face. He says she is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. I believe him.

Guess what?! This makeover has one major twist!
My sister Rachel did!
If you’ve followed the blog for very long you’ve already heard a lot about my big sis (here’s her Angelina Jolie Makeover from forever ago)
She is also a makeup artist and thank goodness for her because she’s been helping me a lot of my makeup consults since I’ve been sick. She does a beautiful job and it’s nice to know that I have someone who can do it just as good, if not better. (if you’d like to schedule with her shoot an email to me [email protected] and request Rachel.)
It was her obsession with makeovers and beauty that inspired mine. I’ve always known that was my beginning but it wasn’t until last week that I wondered for the first time what it was that got her into it.
When I asked she had to think for a minute and then she blurted out “I think it was glamour shots!”
Cause of course it was glamour shots. Those magical images of hair sprayed flower bang perfection would be enough to inspire anyone’s life long love beauty.
Exhibit A: One of my favorite’s from Rachel’s shoot:

Which got me thinking.
Do any of you have glamour shots locked deep down in your photo boxes that you’d like to dust off for all the world to see?
Cause I think we need to have a GLAMOROUS PHOTOS CONTEST!
Here are the deets:
Email me a copy of your glamour shot glory (either a legit one from your past or recreate one) to [email protected] titled GLAMOROUS PHOTO
I’ll pick the cream of the crop (which, heck, might be all of them!)
We will vote on the winner.
The winner will get a $100 SEPHORA GIFT CERTIFICATE!
I can’t wait to see them. (Seriously dig those babies up, cause they are joyous and need to be seen.)

Also I better let you know what Sandra’s wearing on her face:
IIID Foundation in Medium (ETA IS ABOUT 3-4 Months out still on this. Trust me when I say this is the FASTEST humanly possible. Which is shocking to me…but this next generation is gonna blow your mind even more!)
Maskcara Princess Peach Blush
Maskcara Illuminator in Pretty in Pearl
Anastasia Dipbrow in Chocolate
Loreal Gel Liner in Blackest black (just on her top lash line)
M6 & M1 on her lids (from the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette)
Benefit They’re Real Mascara
Beautique Lip Liner in Natural (Um this costs $2.50 and it’s a new favorite of mine! Gorgeous pinky nude)
The Balm gloss in Pink My Lemonade

      Hi there,
I love how much better her eyebrows look in the after photos.
Can you give some instructions (maybe a YouTube vid) in how to correct eyebrows like that (like mine ;))?
      Great work!

Looks like I’ll be digging this out when I’m at my parent’s house for dinner tonight! There is a really awesome cowboy hat with leopard fringe denim jacket awesome to send in. Nothing like painting up a 10 year old like a show girl.

The brows are flawless!! I am a makeup artist who struggles with brows. Were they entirely painted on? Also, random question. Do you have a makeup room? I have room for one would love some inspiration! 🙂

Oh no! The 3-4 month ETA just about made me cry. I’m running low on my IIID foundation and have been using it VERY sparingly to try and stretch it as long as I can. On days that I don’t work or go to church I’ve switched back to using the Maybelline Dream Lumi as a highlighter but it is just not the same. I love, love, love the perfect yellowness of your IIID! Do you have any other ideas for a replacement highlighter? On the days that I don’t use the IIID I find myself looking in the mirror and feeling blah. I know that even with my sparing usage I won’t be able to make it last 3 months 🙁

P.S. – I’m terribly sorry that this post seems whiny. It really was supposed to be a compliment to your amazing product! Thanks for working to make it even better 🙂

DYING to try your IID Foundation! (I’ve already bought the IT Cosmetic brush so I can be prepared). Thanks to you, I’ve become a HAC addict and really feel blah on the days that I don’t do it. I just hate how much make up it takes. 3-4 months seems like a lifetime but will be worth it! I recently discovered Nyx Cosmetics Hi Definition Photo Concealer in yellow. Game changer for highlighting until Medium comes back in stock. Give it a try if you haven’t already!

LOVE your blog. I’ve been following you for quite a while. You rock 🙂

She looks awesome! It wasn’t until I started reading your blog, about a year ago, that I realized the importance of eyebrows. I always shaped mine, but it wasn’t until this last summer that I started filling them in, and it’s amazing!
I always wanted Glamour shots, but there was a huge age and culture gap between my mom and I. There was also a huge gap in age between my grandmother and my mother , as my grandparents were born and raised in Victorian England. Basically my mom was raised with Victorian morals and couldn’t relate on any level to her 90’s child. My dad use to have to sneak me to the make-up counters so I could learn about make-up, and it always had to be applied at school and taken off as soon as I got home so she wouldn’t know.

I don’t have any “glamour shots” except from when I was around 5 years old with my little sister! I might also be too young for them. My HS senior pics were AWFUL lol so they wouldn’t count.
My boyrfriend’s mom has some GREAT glamour shots, though!

I’m just going to have to tan myself like crazy so I can use the dark IIID! I own both because I was nervous of running out of the medium. I’ve been using the highlighter in the medium and the contor in the dark set. I’m defiantly too pale right now to use the dark highlighter. I would buy the returned ones if I needed too 🙂

WOW! What a vision of utter loveliness! I love her pretty alabaster skin and sparkly smile and her beautiful chocolate brown eyes! Makes me want a Hershey’s bar! 🙂 And of course I am loving her beautiful dark hair. Very striking contrast! She really looks radiant and glorious! I am very pale myself, but unfortunately I could never pull off that pretty dark hair. Boo hoo for me! But how lucky for her! Thank you for sharing that sweet romantic story about her and her husband. So dreamy! 🙂

I have a little left on my medium iiiD (which I love, and mine lasted since early December), and now knowing it won’t be in stock for a few months I have a question. The light is way to light for me, and I think the highlighter and contour in medium can be a little to light as well. Do you think a tan white girl could pull off the dark? I’m just concerned about ordering that one if it really is super intended for ladies of color, but if the dark is sheer(er) it might work.. thoughts?

It would totally work for a tan white girl! All the colors pretty much err on the light end of the spectrum. I’m adding darker ones for the next edition!
