Before & Afters Makeup

Makeover Monday – Emily

Emily is one of the most giving, selfless people I know. In fact she rarely buys makeup at all because whenever she goes to purchase anything for herself she decides she’d rather get something for one of her children.
I would say my motivation for her makeover was only about her much needed pampering – and that was definitely part of it but – there’s another much more selfish reason:
virgin eyebrows, baby.
I day dream about beauties like these!
Add that to such a beautiful woman and I feel like I’m Scrooge McDuck on a money swim.

eyes
What I did:
Started by tweezing some arches into her brows and removing and stray hairs, then I filled them with MAC Brun Eye shadow
Then I used that same Brun color to create some depth by using a contour brush and placing shadow on her crease, I created a “C” shape on the outer 1/3 of her eye and swept it beneath her eye at her lash line.
Next I dabbed Lancome shadow in Impress to get that gorgeous bronze glow right in the center of her lid above her upper lashes. Then I used Loreal Gel Liner in Blackest Black on the root of her lashes to make them look fuller and to further define those peepers.
Then I doubled up on mascara and even used a strip of lashes to make her brown eyes look huge!
Now time for some IIID Foundation in Wheat and StoneΒ to HAC and for concealer beneath her eyes. Stippled Β Pink GrapefruitΒ blush in her apples and dabbed onto her lips as well for some lasting color, then topped with some luscious pink gloss!

Hope you guys had a great weekend!

Seriously! This is definitely in the extreme makeover territory in terms of bringing out beautiful features that I didn’t see at all at first but they come out so clear in the after. And yet the makeup looks so natural. Crazy magic! I hope Emily keeps the new eyebrows and that she picked up a few tricks so she can enhance those huge warm chocolate eyes on a regular basis. And the HACing… no words really. Bravo Cara! Amazing!

Like the medium, the dark has a large range of women it matches. I would say that Emily is on the lightest side of that scale. She also mentioned that she wears foundation much darker than people think because her skin is so olive:)

I have olive skin too, about the same as Emily’s, and have been using the medium. I’m wondering if dark would work for me as well, seeing as medium is gonna be out of stock for a while!

this is beautiful! I hope maybe soon you can do a tip on how not to have your eyeliner transfer to your lid when you have hooded eyes. I have tried pencils (mac, urban decay), gel (bobbi brown, mac), and liquid (all sorts) and I have put powder over all of those and they travel like crazy. What to do?

Second this question! I also have naturally hooded eyes and I’ve tried primer, a hair drier to speed up the drying time of the eye liner and putting a powder overlay and nothing helps!

        January 27, 2014 at 12:56 pm

I have hooded lids too but I haven’t had this problem. I use “eyeliner” every day but I use a stiff, thin angled brush, wet it, then dip it in eyeshadow and use it to line my eyes. I also put it right on top of the lashline. It lasts all day and doesn’t move.

Emily looks gorgeous! I am so jealous of her eyebrows! Mine are so patchy and sparse, it takes me 15 minutes JUST to make them look nice and not drawn on. (Just started using Rogaine to try to get some growth). I have similar dark/sunken eye area as Emily, and I’m always amazed at how just covering/lightening those areas makes me look so different, LOL! I’m seriously considering getting Restylane injections to fill in those sunken areas a bit, I’ve seen before/afters that are amazing.

Cara- what concealer did you use to hide the breakouts? You cannot see them at all in the after pic! How did you do that?

This is the most dramatic transformation of all your Monday makeovers and what a wonderful thing you are doing for women!! In a world that points out every flaw, you bring out the beauty which does so much more for these women then make others see her beauty. These women have to walk away with a new self confidence. You are amazing and it shows how much you love people!

Emily is beautiful and I bet she will never forget this experience!

    Hi Cara!

I was wondering exactly the same thing as Liz. It would be amazing if you could do a tutorial on how to cover breakouts/harsh dark circles and have it look as natural as this! I always struggle with my makeup looking too caked when I’m trying to cover up lots of spots and discolouration. She looks so natural and smooth, love that all your makeovers look that way! You’re the best πŸ™‚

Cara – you should rearrange your “comment” section so that the last entry is at the TOP of the page. Every time you want to read the latest comments you have to stream through 100 old comments!

The transformation was outstanding – you know how to bring out our “inner swan”! I was surprised that you used Dark – lllD on her – she seems very pale in the ‘before’ photo.

Very pretty! Have you ever tried fiber lashes by Younique? You would LOVE them! They give you the fake lash look with a mascara application. <3

Cara, you are so gifted. I just spent a good chunk of time looking at all of your “makeover mondays” and some of them have literally made me tear up. You have an amazing talent of bringing out the true beauty in these women, and it is amazing!
