  1. You look stunning no matter what ;)
What color is the eye liner you used? I noticed they have a highlighter color as we’ll, have you tried that one yet?

  2. Love the look, as always. It would have been helpful when the palette colors popped up if there were an arrow or circle indicating the color you were using from the palette. Hey, I don’t know how to do the videos so I don’t even know if that can be done, but it would have been helpful to have a visual. I don’t own the palettes so for me it was a guessing game of, “Oh, I think she used that one.” Still, the look is fabulous!!!! And what a great look with Valentines so close. :-)
Congrats that the medium sold out AGAIN!!! What a testament to how fabulous your product is!

    • Hi Pennyp,

In the tutorial, Cara uses the Stila in the Light palette and she does say the names of the shades that she uses, and in the palette itself, the names of the shades are noted. Hopefully that helps if you opt to purchase the shadow palette for yourself. :)

  3. I love this look, its perfect for everyday. Just so you know using your products everytime will never get old; can’t wait to try my IIId foundation, and the princess peach blush. Thanks for another awesome tutorial, you rock <3! I just have one question, you mentioned before that you were going to make some changes on the foundation, so did the foundation batch that just got sold out have any of those changes? thanks again :)

  4. Beautiful look! What colors do you suggest from the Naked 3 palette? My husband got it for me for Christmas, and I’m having a hard time finding tutorials like this one that look natural and don’t use a ton of dark colors.

    • I totally agree with Melissa! I would love your tips for using Naked 3. I am very fair skinned with dark hair and don’t always want such dramatic makeup. Thanks Cara!

    • For Naked3, my suggestion would be to use “limit” as the base crease color, then use a tiny bit of “darkside” to deepen the outer edge and then pat a bit of “strange” last on the lid.

    • One additional concealer question… I noticed you had a few blemishes. Did you put concealer on those before you applied your 3D? Did you put a primer on before 3D?

        • How do you make it look so easy?! I have IIID in Med and I put the highlighter on my blemishes and it they are covered…for a moment…then as soon as I try and blend (and I’ve tried different ways of blending) it slides right off the blemish and it shows up all red and ugly again! Anyone else have this problem? Help! Thanks!

          • The key I have found with blending it in my blemishes is to dab it on with a brush and then dip the brush in some powder and dab that on on top, which blends it and sets it without rubbing it right off!

  5. I love your tutorials! I am blonde and sometimes the palettes you use don’t work for me, will you please consider using a model (blonde blue eyes) for a few tutorials? PS Can you recommend a makeup artist in the slc- ogden area that works in retail makeup? Thanks! Love your romantic look :)

    • Seconding the hope for a model from the paler side of the spectrum. :) I’m red haired and blue eyed and while I love pretty much everything you do, the palettes are always way too dark for me. Would love to be able to copy one of your looks directly, Cara!

  6. This is such a pretty look. I have one question/suggestion though (sigh – we all do, don’t we?) can you show what colors you use on you lids rather than just showing the entire palette and giving the name? That would help those of use replicate the look when we don’t have the palettes mentioned. I’m sure I have similar colors but I wasn’t sure WHICH colors you used in the palette.

Not a critique just a plea for help :) Thank you!

  7. This is beautiful!

Question: What color/shade is your hair now? It used to be black, right? I, too, have naturally blonde hair and have been coloring it black for about 4 years now.. (black bc I can do my own roots and not have to worry about the color overlapping and looking bad or whatever)… I’m unable to keep up the skintone/tan that I need to pull this color off anymore and think it would look much better a lighter shade… but I’m nervous. I thought you were going back to blonde? Didn’t you have your hair stripped recently? What all was involved in that? Anyways, any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks girl! ;]

  8. Love the look!! And received my illuminator today and I love it! Can’t wait the medium foundation gets back in stock so I can try it!

  9. Love this look…once again Cara you are so helpful, and seem to be hitting the makeup trends on the mark. Thanks for keeping me current. I also like tha fact that you keep your tutorials quick and to the point. I don’t have to dedicate a lot of time to watching a tutorial. But,ugh! I would have loved to see you apply the lashes. Do you have a tutorial for that? I can’t find it if you do.

  10. Love the look, wish I had any of those colors in my lorac pro palette but I can probably improvise something with my ELF Day pallete book.

And WOW re the IIID and those blemishes… Magic! Fortunately haven’t gotten any blemishes since I got my IIID but I just ordered the Clarisonic and everyone talks abt there being a purge period with lots of breakouts and I’m suoerw dreading it. But fear no more I have your magic eraser potion. Bwuahahaha blemishes!

  11. For those of you with the Naked 3 palette, I just created the look by applying Strange all over my lid and brow bone, then used Limit for the first color and Nooner for the second, darker color. It is so pretty! I never would have guessed that such a subtle look would have such an impact. And I loved the tip about using a thinner line for people with smaller eyelid surface area. Thanks, Cara!

  12. Quick question :) Was that a stippling brush you used to apply the blush on your cheeks? If no, what kind of brush was it?

    Loved the make-up as always!

  13. Can you tell us which brushes you’re using? I’ve been having a hard time finding a good eyeshadow brush that blends well.

    Thanks, big love from Canada!

  14. Oh how beautiful! I never comment, but I totally need to start because I LOVE your blog. I have totally changed the way I do my makeup and I feel so much more beautiful now. I have even shared it with my Mom who loves it too. We talk about how you do it, so that’s how we do it. =) I am so happy for all of your success and for your new line. I am anxious to try it when I am due for some more makeup. Good luck and thank you!

  15. Love love love the video! And this soft look is perfect for someone like me, who feels conspicuous in heavy or dark eye makeup! Can’t wait to re-order Medium when you start the next pre-order! :)

  16. Cara you’re so dang beautiful inside and out and you are always inspiring me through your makeup, and all your other personal posts. I know that some you tube gurus travel everyone and then for a meet and greet if you ever do one or any kind of beauty thing in New England let me know. I would love to meet you. Orbetter yet have you do my makeup

Ps. I’m so in love with your iIID makeup

  17. Great tutorial as usual! I am curious about that double ended eyeshadow brush that you used. I don’t have one like it and I would love to know the brand.

  18. I have the first Naked palette, so I had to work with what I had. I created a similar looks with the colors naked, hustle, and virgin.

    • I love maybellines BB cream. It feels more like putting lotion than foundation. it gives you light coverage without the foundation like feel. plus it has sunscreen in it!

  19. I am really curious as to why you do your eye makeup first, followed by the foundation. I have always done my eyes last. I have watched a lot of your videos and perhaps you have touched on it before, I probably missed it. Thanks!

    • I’m not sure why Cara does her eyes first, but I’ve heard other makeup artists say that if there is any “fallout” from applying eyeshadow, etc., it could mess up the foundation (if you had already applied it first).

  20. This is my new go-to look. I don’t have either palettes so I substituted MAC’s all that glitters and depression for the eyes and it looks great. So happy to see another video tutorial. Keep ‘em coming, Cara! :)

  21. Oh my gosh Cara, looove this look! I want this look for my wedding! I wish I could fly you up to Washington to do my makeup. My gown is blush colored so this will go perfectly. Would you be able to do a blog post on suggestions for finding a makeup artist for weddings? I’m having a hard time finding someone and I don’t really know what criteria to look for. Thanks

  22. I love this look! Thank you for the tip on the eyeliner! It’s AMAZING!!! I often look to your blog for product suggestions as I am rarely disappointed with your recommendations! Thank you for everything you do!

  23. Beautiful! And applying the IIID foundation the way you did it here (applying with the IT brush and blending with a damp beauty blender) made it look more amazing than before! That’s my new application method of choice!

  24. I tried this look today and love it! Thank you for the advice on the Stila In the light palette, too. I use Dr Dennis Gross triple eye serum for my bags and absolutely love it. It’s the only eye treatment I found that works for me.

  25. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this look! It is just plain pretty- may even be my favorite one you’ve done!!! Could you try this out on a blued-eyed blonde, like myself? I tried this on myself and it didn’t look near as good (of course I didn’t have the IIID makeup because medium is still sold out, so that may have been it, too) Thank you, Cara!!! You’re amazing!!!

  26. Cara,

Wow! You look amazing! Thank you so much for your contribution to women.
What is the “highlight color” that you used?
    I NEED it!

  27. Reminds me a little of the Belle look, just even more simple and still so pretty! This is the kind of look I think of when I see Keira Knightley in Pride and Prejudice, or any other period drama where the female lead is very natural but plays a romantic role :)

  28. Just stumbled across your blog today and absolutely LOVE it! I was wondering if you could recommend an alternative to the eyeshadow colors you used as I am not sure about investing in the palette just yet.

Thank you so much for your tutorials!

  29. I know you have a billion questions to answer..but…if you get a chance, I’m trying to decide on a new eyeshadow palette. I am thinking either Naked 2 or 3, Stila in the Light, or The NARSissist Eyeshadow Palette??? Do you have a recommendation? The palettes are all similar, I just can’t make a decision. {I have brown eyes by the way, if that makes a difference}

  30. Love this look so much, firat time commenter. I stumbled onto your blog just recently, and have been dedicating at least 4 minutes every morning to myself thanks to your post about mommy makeup in 4 minutes. Anyway, have slowly been adding makeup back into the arsenal (was previously wearing mascara and lipgloss, and a translucent powedr for shine and thats it!).

Anyway, totally a boost of confidence learning these new skillz! I told my fiance we would have to pay for you and the family to come to Mexico City for my wedding makeup (if only we had that kind of money! LOL) because your work is amazing and I would die for a makeover by Cara!

Thanks for all the helpful videos, i am gonna try this look for my little ones baptism this weekend (although am also gonna watch the “phtoo ready” post i jsut saw browsing too)

    Your newest fan in Mexico!
    Tricia
