Skin Skin Products Skincare

Best skin product of my life.

I have a really hard time reviewing skin care products. I have to try them for a few weeks before I can come to any conclusions and even after a month sometimes it’s very hard for me to tell. I always take before and afters but most of the time I don’t see a huge difference.

Until I was sent this little nugget of joy and beauty:

Riiviva PMD - Life saver!

Holy wow.
In the last few years my biggest complaint for my skin would be just a general texture change that was going on and a loss of natural luster.
Texture problems(roughness, large pores, fine lines & wrinkles)  are frustrating because foundation not only doesn’t fix them (usually, some primers come close) but they often accentuate them.
After my very first use of this personal microderm machine I really couldn’t believe it.
My skin felt baby soft and looked so vibrant! I was sold immediately.
I use it once a week (every Sunday) and I actually get excited on the day I use it cause my skin feels like I took a time travel machine to my first birthday, which is cool cause I am so in to time travel.

Even though I knew there were many other things the Riiviva PMD did besides the smooth skin I didn’t realize just how much it had done until I looked at me before photo I took (I’ve been using the PMD for about 2 months but I forgot to take a before so I one I had from a month or so earlier that represented my skin at the time well)

Granted I am making THE DORKIEST face in the first photo (Also, I started dying my eyebrows, don’t know why I waited so long to do that.) but aside from that I was shocked by how much of my redness was gone, I didn’t even think I was red.
Can you see the smoothness? Nick couldn’t see it and I was like “WHAT? How can you not see that!?” which met a shrug from him….

Here’s the thing. It’s pretty expensive.
But just one microderm treatment done at a spa will run you half what this machine costs and it will last for years  (the diamond tips will need to be exchanged after about a year) so it’s a good investment.
Maybe it’s still not in the budget right now, in that case, worry not! I have two options:

Can you do a follow-up post on how it works and what we need to buy if we don’t win the giveaway (i.e., do you need to buy the serums too, different heads etc).

On a separate note, what primers do you recommend?

I just recently found your blog and totally love it! Thanks so much!

One of my biggest problems with my skin is just overall redness (I don’t have ruddy skin, but my face sure looks that way sometimes). Even though I have young skin, I do have discoloration from scarring in some spots and some little bumps here and there that I can’t seem to exfoliate away. I would love to try this product! Added it to my wish list.

Your skin looks so different! Even though you are beautiful in both pics, your skin looks dull in the “before” picture in comparison to the “after” picture. And the redness disappearing – wow!

I would really, really love to have this little guy. No balance of cleanser + moisturizer seems to balance my combination skin, and because of it, I have large pores on my T-zone and perpetual flaky skin between my eyebrows. What I wouldn’t give to have the silky smooth texture of my younger skin!

But Holy Moses! This puppy is way out of my price range. I can only pray I win this one.

I can’t wait to see your Disney Princess tutorials! I’m stoked!! Yay!

Hey Cara — would love to hear more from you about how to use a system like this. I’ve never done microdermabrasion before — is it good for acne (I have some scars, which I saw on their website this product can help a lot with, but I also have small, frequent breakouts), do you have to use their cleansers with it, is it strictly a once-a-week process, do you use it anywhere else on your body, etc etc? 🙂 Thanks for sharing and for the discount and giveaway! Also, thanks for only sharing about products that you have tested and REALLY love. So helpful!!

Hi Cara! Love your blog but I have never tried HACing. I have acne scarring (mostly on my checks) and was told long ago that I should not use any bronzer or shimmery makeup on my checks because it would make the scars stand out more. I’m sure regular microdermabrasion treatments would help but do you have any makeup tricks to help hide uneven skin that wouldn’t require caking on the makeup? Thank you!

    Hey Cara!

First of all, I really LOVE your blog! It´s full of very useful tips and how-to´s and I really like all of the videos and pictures. You make learning about beauty so easy and SO fun 🙂 You are very beautiful and seem like a great, warm and just awesome person 🙂

I am just so happy that I discovered your blog a few months ago. This is my first comment.

I have a question/problem also. So if you have any time I would be really happy if you´d say your opinion. I have problems with my neck skin. I am 24 years old and I already have horizontal lines on my neck. And they are really big and visible, not just little “barely there” lines. I see them even if I have make-up on my neck. I know how important is to take care of my face and also my neck and decolletage – I never sleep with make-up and I moisturize a lot. I think sometimes in the past I haven´t paid so much attention to my neck but I think for about six months now I have really took care of it exactly like my face. But I haven´t seen any differences, I even think the lines are more and more visible 🙁

Do you maybe know a good trick or a good product or anything for the neck? Because I think I´m not that old to have a neck like this 🙁

I´d be really really happy to hear what you think! You are truly amazing, keep up the good work 🙂

Hi Cara, just found your blog. Love it!
    Few questions:
I have the hardest time deciding which shades would work for medium toned Asian (indian) complexions. (My current foundation is Loreal true match W-3 sand beige, if that gives you an idea)
Would the Rimmel bronzer, the Maybelline dream lumi highlighter work in the shades you have used in you videos work? Also, the Maybelline blush?
I noted you use the Loreal glosses a lot too. I love the shades but find they don’t last very long for me. What do you recommend for longer lasting lip color?

Any chance you will be in South East Florida any time soon? Would love a one-on-one! 🙂

I have never left a comment before! Aaah! Very unlike me.

Anyway, I was wondering if this product would be too harsh for me if the clarisonic was too harsh? I used that a few times a week for several months and for whatever reason, the extra exfoliation caused cystic pimples on my chin. It was a nightmare. I gave it to my bff.

I’d really love to try this, but I’m scared it will be too aggressive. I am 35 years old and I have noticed all of the problems you mentioned (obvs) but that’s a lot of money to spend only to end up having to give it to my bff again!

I’ve gotten MANY of your recommendations on this site over the last year. Thank you for everything!

Check into Rodan + Fields Smoothe regimen! Great for Rosacea! In fact all of their products are great. I have personally seen dark spots and wrinkles disappear! And no I’m not spamming, just love the product.

Hi, Cara! Would you suggest using a Clarisonic along with this exfoliater?

Is this coupon code expired? I tried to use it and it said my cart doesn’t reach the minimum requirements? (I have the system & a set of filters so its a large order?) Help! 🙂 I really want to order! 🙂

I would love to try this. My mom has lots of age spots she wants to get rid of. I also have friends who live facials and massages.

I know I’m late on the comment…but I JUST found your blog and have been reading all your past posts. I want to order this today! Is the coupon code not valid anymore? It doesn’t seem to work when I try to apply it.

Are you still using this product? Can you do an update on your face results? Thinking about investing in this soon! Thanks so much!
P.S. Cannot wait until you restock the HAC pack in January, so excited to try it out;)
