Midi Lip

I have 5 older sibling and 3 younger.

I wasn’t even given the dignity of the title “Middle Child” more like “Somewhere-to-the-side-of-the-middle child.”
There’s no glory in that. You’re neither big nor little. You’re not afforded the perks of being first or those of being last.
Your mom calls you Heid-Rache-Cara. You babysit, wear hand-me-downs and share a room.

In-between-ers get the shaft.

Which is why I bring this up.

Everyone is always talking about bold lips and nude lips but what about midi lips?
It’s the most underrated lip of all.
It’s not quite as loud as your typical bold and not quite as bare as your nudies. Chocolate vanilla swirl, if you will.

In a world that is split between bold lip lovers and nude lip devotees. I say we all just agree on something.
Let’s heal the our differences and meet in the middle, who knows, it just might be your gateway into a whole new way of lipsticking.

Not too bold, not too bare.

yayyy I’m so glad you brought this up! I’m always midi-lipsticking! it’s so easy to pull off every day and nude lips usually just wash me out a bit too much, although it can be nice sometimes when I’m a bit more tan

I love voting each day for you – I feel like it makes a little payback for the wonderfulness of your blog. I wish I had a larger beauty budget, but it’s helped me just feel comfortable with the basics of makeup – and knowing where to direct my splurges! 🙂 Thanks for all your work!!

I’m already wearing a mid lip color today! Fergie lipstick from Walgreens called Fergie Daily, I cant believe the quality for a drugstore lipstick! It keeps my lips moisturized all day WITHOUT getting clumpy AT ALL! Have you tried this, Cara?

I have really thin lips too :-\ I usually stay away from dark or bold colors, I mostly wear nudes, peaches, corals and pinks. Sometimes I just barely overdraw my top lip, I can kind of get away with it because it’s so small to begin with and I do it subtly

Hi Cara! You always seem to get such strong, true color out of your lip products. Do you put any sort of primer or concealer on your lips to get that effect? Thanks!

Like Allison said above, I’m curious if you put something on underneath your lipstick to neutralize your own lip color? I am wearing the Petal Rebel today, but it seems much brighter on me than it did in the picture you posted recently.

Haha I am one of 9 as well and I completely appreciate this! I am the third oldest, though, so my parents sorted us into brackets. “Big girls” (try not having a complex about that!) little girls and boys. So funny!

Do you have any recommendations on lip stains? I can’t wear just regular lipstick, or I haven’t had luck. I love Chapstick so I always feel like lipstick isn’t enough moisture. I have found that lip stains are a good solution. All of the ones I’ve tried dry up really quickly though. Any suggestions?

Gretchen, have you tried the Maybelline Color Whisper line? I found out about them from Cara and now have FOUR! I’ve gotten several girlfriends into them too. I was a lip balm only kinda girl because everything else dries out my lips but the Color Whispers are SUPER moisturizing. They don’t last forever but most of the colors are so sheer you can reapply whenever without a mirror. I basically treat them as lip balms and love love love them! Super affordable too, give them a try. 🙂
