Before & Afters Makeup

Lucy – Makeover Monday

Have you ever seen eyes this color?
St-u-u-u-ning I tell ya.
This is Lucy, she’s as sweet as she is beautiful.
Featuring Lucy on Makeover Monday

I used a copper shadow around her peepers and a heavy coat of mascara, cause we all know that I’d be crazy not to capitalize on those babies.
I filled in her brows a little bit closer together which I think really softened her expression and framed her face beautifully.
Buffed in some gorgeous foundation using my favorite brush.
I dabbed some pink blush into the apples of her cheeks.
Next I contoured her cheekbones, sides of her nose, chin and forehead.
Highlighted the bridge of her nose, under her eyes (in the pie piece) between her brows and on her chin and set it with a illuminating powder. ( I used the hard candy version but I can’t seem to find a link for it, got it at Walmart)
Lined her lips (blending well) and finished with some sexy pink gloss.
I hope you guys love it as much as I do.

Product List:
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in STROMBOLI
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in Ivory

CoverGirl Perfect Blend Eyeliner Pencil in Mink (for the lips)

Super quick question, I noticed for contour you used l’oreal true match in the cool. I noticed earlier the Balm Bahama Mama Bronze is being discontinued (1-I apologize if you have reviewed this already and 2- I have been known to be wrong so perhaps I was looking at the wrong site). Did you make this switch because of that? I had been unable to get the bronzer so I decided to use loreal but in a neutral shade that’s slightly darker. How much darker than our normal shade should we use (I have an olive more yellow complexion) and should we stick with neutral or cool? Thank you!!

I use both still. The loreal is a touch darker so I use it mostly on darker olive skinned gals.

It works for those of us who are too fair for the Bahama Mama, too.
I’m a pale redhead (think Christine Hendricks, Amy Adams, Emma Stone… except with less amazing genes and less access to facials).
I use the L’Oreal Cool Beige (I think it’s C5). I’m still getting the hang of blending it so my face doesn’t look grubby but it works pretty well.

I like how the Nars foundation has SO many different options for not only skin tones but also for the undertone! I have fair freckly skin but my under tones are yellow except for my nose is always pink! I have yet to find a foundation that works with my mixed complexion. I’ll have to stop by Sephora and try out a few of the different shades! I’m so glad I found out about it!

I watched your video on the Allure contest today (and voted for you of course) and then went out to purchase the dual eyeliner (highlighter!) stick only to find that none of the stores I checked had it. I just checked Allure’s website–it’s not available until June! I wish they would’ve been more clear about that since I’m finally ready to try your HAC techniques. Good luck with the contest, I was glad to see you got the most votes last week!

Yes, this please! I followed your undereye tutorial recently and didn’t help much but this is a big difference! I don’t have discoloration, just puffiness from genetics/allergies.

OK I have to say in all fairness, she isn’t smiling as big in the second photo (this wasn’t intentional) if she had been smiling wider I imagine you would see the indentation under her eyes still. I was able to smooth it out by way of color (using the pie piece from the dark circle post) but you can’t change an indentation like that with makeup. My recommendation with that is to do the pie piece and then move on, I focus on the positive beautiful things about a face and then other things don’t become the focus any more. In my opinion her under eye indentations give her character and I like them but when I see the second photo I am mostly so fascinated by her eyes, skin and her mouth that I can’t hardly look at anything else

Ah, well then I’m screwed, I have no other positive focus! LOL My problem is the opposite, not indention but puffiness that light reflectors and the “one shade lighter concealer” seem to enhance. Lived with it for 34 years, guess I’ll deal. 😉

My eyes are this hazel-y color too, and I’ve been using purple to set off the green (the Almay makeup colors for different colored eyes), but I did this yesterday and today, and I notice a HUGE difference! I used a lighter shade of copper from Mary Kay, but I love it! I have the under eye circles as well, and I think that’s something that we all have, just most of the time it’s airbrushed out in things we see.
Ladies, WE’RE the ones that are normal! And we’re beautiful! WE just need to learn to focus on our better aspects, like Cara did with the eyes, and be confident in strength and beauty!

I would VERY much appreciate you to do a compare and review video comparing and contrasting your favorite concealers (mainly for under eyes) as well as foundations for both name brand and drug store products! Particular products I am interested in seeing are the NYX Concealer in a Jar vs. Make Up Forever Concealer and Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation vs. Make up Forever HD Foundation with a couple of other drug store products you think are comparable! I would love to see you make a video for this…think about it 😉
