Before & Afters Makeup

Makeover Monday…on a Tuesday

That pretty much sums it up.

I have had the busiest week of my life! I need to go to bed…hours ago, so I won’t write much I just want to let you know I’ll be answering comments and stuff tonight and show you the most beautiful bride, LeeAnna.
I seriously loved this lady the minute she introduced herself. (The southern accent might have played a small part in that)
We had such a good time getting her all gussied up for her Vegas wedding. She has the prettiest smile and such a gorgeous color of green eyes so I focused on bringing those out the most:)

For her makeup:
I started with e.l.f. Studio Mineral Infused Face Primer then brushed
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation STROMBOLI around the outside of her face.
Then I did her eyes. She asked for a smokey eye and nude lips (a favorite of pretty much every girl:) So I used a small shadow brush to smudge in dark brown (Espresso from the Lorac Pro Palette) shadow. Then I softened it and blurred the edges with a lighter brown (Taupe from the Pro Palette). Finishing the eye with some highlight under the brow (Nude from the Pro Palette) and some liquid liner on the top lid.
For her brows I used NYX brow compact and filled them in a little thicker and closer together and really defining her arch.
For her cheeks I used Maybelline Bouncy Blush in Fresh pink (in love)
Then some contouring around her face, under her cheekbones and lips and on the sides of her nose with Bahama Mama Bronzer.
Highlighting next! I used my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE NEW COMBO on this it turns out SO natural and gorgeously glowy. I mix together NXY HD Concealer in Yellow and Stilla Illuminating BB cream then blend it into the under eyes (in a pie shape) the forehead, down the nose and on her chin.
I then added some extra glow with Benefit’s Watts Up Highlighter on her cheeks and under her brow and finished the look with NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sugar Pie
Oh, and I ALWAYS ALWAYS set with Urban Decay All Nighter Setting spray. That stuff is GENIUS!

    Hi Cara,
For the last few days I haven’t been able to see any of the photos on your site 🙁 Is it possibly a setting that needs to be changed on my computer? I’m slightly heart broken about it. Your site is the first thing I check every morning when I first get to work (Shhhhh – don’t tell!) haha

You might need to just clear your cache and cookies. I don’t think it’s anything to do with her site.

I have to say… I’m not a big fan. She looks very made up and not at all like “herself” from the before picture. I wish you had worked with her natural skin tone. Her eyes do look fantastic, though.

I’m a newbie here, and all I can say is “wow”! You sculpted her forehead & cheeks, & brought out her eyes wonderfully. One commenter said she had too much makeup on. If not for your wedding, then when??
Most people use a little extra umph on their big day. She looks mahvelous 😉

Lol I loved everything about it except the lip color (I thought a peachier nude might have been better). Fantastic job on covering the blemishes with absolute perfection! And on bringing out those pretty eyes. I am sure her wedding was made happier because she felt extra pretty on her special day.

P.S. I love how everyone is sharing such different opinions, it makes reading the comments so much more interesting and real.

You did a lovely job enhancing her natural beauty, but I wish you had blended in the bronzer better. The first thing I saw was the stark contrast between her true paleness and the bronzer you applied to the edges of her forehead and around her cheekbone area. I agree with another commenter that her a lipstick with a peachier or pinker color would have done well.

Love it~ we need more eyebrow tutorials. Like maybe a video because every time I try to make mine look better, i look like a wack-a-doo. One ends up too low and the other too thick and then there is a color situation. Ugh. Love this blog though!

Another gem! Many people don’t realize the importance of eyebrows. They are the frame to the beauty of your face. LeeAnna’s, with your help Cara, are perfectly beautiful. If eyebrows are skimpy, brushing in a bit of shadow with a quality brush may be just the trick you need! In my opinion, LeeAnna’s lips are too pale and need a bit more peachy color so they don’t get lost, particularly in wedding pictures. My favorite choice for this look would be Icy Peach by Mary Kay. She doesn’t want her groom to have trouble finding those lovely lips!

Such a beautiful bride. Cara, you are always amazing at what you do. I’ve been following your blog for a long time, and it has inspired me to write one myself. I get so much joy from viewing your posts, especially the ones where you talk about life and how you deal with all the nonsense life can bring. I like to think I have a pretty great sense of humor and wanted to share my blog with you and your readers. If you like it will you please repin it. I know you have a tremendous following, and since I’m doing this anonymously, I could use your support to get the word out.
Please check it out when you have a minute and hopefully I’ll make you laugh. Thank you!!

Im not normally a comment-er but this was so well done, you really enchanced her so beautifully while still allowing her to look like herself. most times I “blecch” at the makeover afters some post because A) the woman no longer looks like herself and B) no one should wear that much makeup in real life (as opposed to reel life). So thank you Cara, for making this woman look so beautiful, and to the bride LeeAnna, congrats; you looked stupendous.
