Netflix Picks & the Best Popcorn Ever Made in the History of Popcorn

I don’t get out much.

This is the sad, strange and somewhat aggressive conversation I had with myself (in my head, although I ‘m not sure it makes it any better)
Whilst searching relentlessly for a good Netflick the other night…

After 3 years together, countless movies and one thoughtfully filled out questionnaire the “Top 10 for Cara” is still as bleak as it was when we began.
Really Netflix? Go Tigers, really? That seems like a sure bet to you still? Come on, it’s been 2 years since I watched the final episode of Friday Night Lights and I would think you’d know I did not watch it for the football by now.
Google knows me so much better than you do. If I so much as think about a product I’m half way interested in Google’s throwing up ads for it all over the place. Why does Google know everything about me? What do they plan on doing with all this information someday? Do I regret a few of the Google searches I’ve made that are surely recorded somewhere? Is it a little scary and make me wish I listened when the IT guy told me like 10 times to never send sensitive information via email?

Yeah maybe, but I will tell you this, if Google ran my top ten it would be PACKED with awesome shows and I would watch the heck out of them.”

….{sorry about the SHE}….

At any rate. You wanna watch a good Flick right? So I decided to tell you guys about my favorites in the hopes that you return the favor and together we can have better viewing experiences.

Netflix Picks

I think I watched A League of Their own a thousand times when I was a kid. Total classic.
I know I am WAY late on the boat with Pretty Little Liars but I just started watching it a week or so ago and I’m totally hooked. The makeup team for this show….Genius.
If you are in a Doc mood this one is awesome. Sometimes I think the media has a way of making us believe that material things and perfection in life is what makes us happy. This documentary shoots major holes in that theory and really reminds you what’s important.

You’ll probably need some treats to go with the show.

A few weeks ago my lil’ sister Celeste came up with this recipe.
In that short amount of time I think it has been made and remade about 20 time (no exaggeration) we are OBSESSED with it. Just enough salty just enough sweet with and SO easy to make. Seriously I can’t even begin to tell you how good it is. You’ll wonder what you’ve been doing with caramel popcorn all this time.
This popcorn tastes like HEAVEN. It's so easy and takes like 5 minutes to make!

1 Large Bag of Popcorn
3/4 C Peanut Butter
3/4 C Corn Syrup
3/4 C Sugar

Pop the pop corn and poor it into a large bowl.
Mix the PB, corn syrup & sugar in a large sauce pan and bring it to a boil.
Remove from heat and add popcorn to the saucepan in handfuls (that way the extra unpopped kernels stay at the bottom of the bowl and can be discarded)
Mix together and serve!

Have a wonderful weekend!

You MUST watch “Downton Abbey”! The entire first season is on Netflix and it totally takes you in. The dresses are AMAZING…there are real vintage Chanel dresses that the actresses wear. Probably safe to say that this show has taken over my entire life and I don’t even care anymore about how pathetic that sounds.

Also Arrested Development is hilarious and all 3 seasons are on Netflix, great cast and dialogue.

I like old school. . . 80’s teen drama: Some kind of Wonderful, Pretty in Pink, Girls just want to have fun, She’s Out of Control (that is a MUST).
On Netflix: the new Footloose, anything with Adam Sandler, cuz he is funny. My hubs and I also got into watching How I Met Your Mother, and that is great. I second the Downton Abbey suggestion. All of season one is on Netflix. I have not meet a man or woman who doesn’t love Downton.

Best shows hands down are Coupling and The IT Crowd – both are British television series available on Netflix and are ridiculously funny! As for movies, depends on what you’re in the mood for: comedy = Hot Fuzz or Snatch; drama = Chocolat; creative = Pulp Fiction; awesomely bad = Top Secret or Dodgeball or Zoolander; hipster = Empire Records; action = 300, Sherlock Holmes (w/ Robert Downey, Jr.), The Matrix, True Romance. Hope this helps!

If I want to laugh I turn to “The Other Guys” or “Talladega Nights The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby”. “The Client List” is a great show and if you don’t mind a little naughtiness “Son’s Of Anarchy”.

Some great netflix picks from me are…”Extremely loud and incredibly noisy” it’s a weird title but a great movie with Tom Hanks about a Dad that was killed in the 9/11 attacks. Also an oldy but a goodie we just saw again recently is “Far and Away” with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, it’s 20 years old so it was filmed when they were just married…such a classic show! Good luck and let us know when you find other good netflix finds, we all need em!

Julianna Margulies is a total stunner in all facets, I’m obsessed with Christine Baranski, and it’s available on Netflix. It’s like law and order meets Friday night lights. I highly recommend it! It’s more about the disturbing culture of the town I grew up in, and what happens when grown adults pin their dreams on teenagers. And it’s one of those, “this is wrong, but I just can’t stop watching it” documentaries.

I added butter to try to thin it down so it could coat the popcorn. .. am I missing something? Also, I tossed them with powdered sugar so they wouldn’t all clump together… very tasty though! So delighted to see this recipe! I’ve been making this since 1975! My sister brought the recipe home from a nutrition program she was teaching to innercity youth. I entered it in a contest and its published in a cookbook called Cookin and Crafts Just for Kids! Back then, nutrition was a lot different and my recipe called for two quarts of popped corn. Neat to see someone else enjoying peanut butter popcorn as much as me all these years!
