Blue Eyed Baby

Makeup Tutorial for blue eyes, using only drugstore products!

I love blue eyes.  My dad has the bluest eyes and I love how when he gets all choked up his eyes look like they are glowing.
This look is beautiful on those blues because it’s not too harsh around the eyes (I have noticed it can be really easy to put too much makeup around bright blue eyes) but the pink in the lips and cheeks TOTALLY draw the atention right to your peepers.

Makeup for blue eyes - using drugstore products!

I used:

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad To The Bronze

Maybelline Eyeshadow in Caffeine Rush

L’oreal Gel Liner in Blackest Black

L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Fresh Pink

Hard Candy Luminous Moon Shine
Mixed With
NYX Cosmetics Concealer in Yellow
and
St. Ives Facial Moisturizer Timeless Skin
Revlon ColorStay Foundation Combination/Oily Skin in Ivory

NEW Maybelline Color Whisper in Petal Rebel

I don’t have blue eyes, but I’m not a big fan of a lot of makeup and I absolutely love this look, except I super duper suck at eyeliner, and this is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Have you done a tutorial on how to do this eyeliner? If you have, can you point me in the direction please? Or if not, can you? Thank you!!!

Can you do something for green/hazel eyes? I tried your New Years eve/going out eye and thought it was too much for me! Though, that may have to do with being over 40…

Thanks Cara! My eyes are more of a blue/gray. Would this color combo still work for me? Also, I just bought the Lorac Pro Palette. Which colors on there would be a good substitute for the drug store brands you used? Just so I don’t have to go buy more!

I was going to make the same request. I was convinced by this amazing blog that I needed to get the lorac pro palette and I love it! But I would love to know more ways to use it. I’m also blue-eyed. Love this look and LOVE the maybelline tattoo, so I definitely want to add that to my collection, but having too many shadows/palettes makes me feel overwhelmed and wasteful. Would LOVE more tutorials with that palette.

Thanks for fielding all the requests, Cara…I know you’re only one person!

I get so excited when I see a new posting online to see what new tidbit you are sharing with us. Having said that, you look stunning in this pic with blue eyes. Hi Cara, I love your blog and look forward to your posts! I have grayish blue eyes. I wish they were bright blue like the ones in your pic. When I wear subtle makeup like you have here, I look washed out. Is there anything I can wear that would make my eyes pop? The gray color of my eyes just isn’t that special and they don’t stand out. Thanks for all of your helpful information!

Great question! OH I love gray blue! this look would be beautiful with your eyes too, you could even do a with a slightly paler pink and it would be fab too! I would use the Pro Palette Lt. Bronze for the lid and champagne for the highlight! It will have a VERY similar look:)

    Hello,
I came across your blog about a week ago, and am in <3. Your beauty posts are amazing. I tried the HACing and I couldn't get it to quite work for me, but after a while, I think I got the hang of it.

Going to try your Victoria's Secret Hair Tutorial real soon. Sooo excited :D.

I wanted to run something by you…I have hooded eye's, and was wondering if you could possibly do a tutorial on doing eye makeup for hooded eyes? I've tried watching video's on youtube/reading articles, and it seems like they're never quite right. Figured since you were a makeup artist, you might have the secret 🙂 lol.

I love your tutorials, and am always in awe of your talent. And how freakin’ gorgeous you are. Thanks for the shout out to the blue eyed girls. Question, I use the Colorstay cream liner but i feel like it kind of “leaks” when i put it on the tear line. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks Jess! I doubt you are doing anything wrong, most liners really won’t stay in there. The best one I have found is the Loreal Infailable cream liner, the other day I literally showered and used makeup remover and still had a tough time getting it out of my tear line. That’s a first!

Have you Tried Mary Kays Liquid Illuminator? its THE best. I absolutely love it! not gritty and it has just the right shimmer, not glittery at all! I think it was limited edition, but you can still get it on Amazon, of course 🙂

Love this tutorial! It was helpful to see the contouring demonstrated. I liked the tip about a shadow under your bottom lip. Tried it and it definitely makes a difference. Also your luminizer idea was good. I don’t like a ton of shimmer in mine either. 🙂 Nice pretty natural look at a great price. Thanks for showing that its very possible to look beautiful without going broke at the makeup counter. I’m a new fan and I ABSOLUTELY love your blog!

    Hi Cara,
Your blue eyes look amazing! After watching your “how to” video, I was so anxious to try it for my blue eyes. Unfortunately, the Maybelline Eyeshadow in Caffeine Rush cannot be found anywhere! Even online it says it is out of stock and may not be produced anymore. Is there any way you could tell us what similar Maybelline product would work or possibly just the name of the individual colors you used from the Caffeine Rush?
    Thank you so much!

How do you pick colors for fair skin dark hair and blue eyes? I either look like a clown or washed out. So I don’t wear eyeshadow, only lip color and nars orgasm blush for face color. BORING

Hi there, I don’t know if you are still checking comments on this post but I wanted to try. I have blue eyes, fair skin & auburn hair. Everyone always tells me how much they love my hair color….however I am at a loss as to what to do with my makeup….any suggestions would be great! My most difficult area is lip color 🙂 Most likely that is because I am a chap stick girl all the way. I would love any suggestions or posts on red hair/blue eyed makeup 🙂
