Bridal Beauty Checklist

Oh guess what? I am getting married on Saturday!!
6 days away…Which sounds like nothin’ but feels like an eternity to me right now.
Sure I want it to look cute and have pretty flowers and yummy food and all of that, but my main concern for the actual event prep?
Knocking Nick’s socks off cause he has NEVER seen me look so pretty, ever.
If you have something exciting coming up that you want need to look SUPER SEXY for like a  wedding, a prom, a photo-shoot, or a staged “random” run in with en ex-boyfriend you need to pull out the big guns.
I have a whole system created to fully prepare…because I am excited and I like to find ways make it feel even more spectacular.
It just so happens that I take about 6 days to do this…so here I go…

Day 1:

  • Drink 1/2 Gallon of water. (no way your are gonna be puffy or dehydrated this week)
  • If you plan to wax start growing your hair out now.
  • Get some sun. (I know people will yell at me for this but I am not saying fry yourself, a nice healthy glow is a great addition to a bottle tan. Nothing crazy. The LAST thing you want is to be burned)

Day 2:

  • Drink ANOTHER 1/2 Gallon of water.
  • I exfoliate your WHOLE body really well. Face included.
  • Apply self tanner (my favorite) on your whole body, in list someone to help you with your back (or spray tan if you have the monies for such a thing.)I think it’s good to do this a few times before the event so that you avoid streaks and can build it up a bit.
  • Whiten your teeth today ( I sleep in Crest White Strips to whiten mine)

Day 3:

  • Another 1/2 Gallon of pretty juice.
  • I like to NOT wear makeup on this day. I just exfoliated and tanned and I like to let my skin breathe a bit.
  • Whiten your teeth again if they need it.

Day 4: (a big day)

  • If you plan to get a cut and color, today is the day to do it. If you don’t need an all over dye but still want to do your roots, I do my own (here’s how) I also fill my lash extensions on this day. This is the perfect day for this stuff  because it gives your hair (and lashes) time before washing but is close enough to be super fresh.
  • more water
  • Another coat of tanner. If your using the good stuff you are not gonna look snookified just warm and radiant! I SWEAR!

Day 5:

  • Water. Duh.
  • Take some Unisom if you are worried you won’t be able to sleep tonight. You need 8 hours for sure. Beauty rest is no freakin’ joke.
  • Buy something special. Whether it’s something exstravagant or really small like a new body wash it’s still something new you didn’t use yesterday, so it will feel more fun.
  • If you are waxing your bod, today’ is the day.
  • Tweeze or wax your brows. (brow tut)
  • Mani & Pedi (Get some girls together and do them on each other if you are on a budget)

Day 6: ( YAY!)

  • Take a LONG thorough shower. Shaving precisely (with a new razor and shaving cream, which I never usually use, so it’s a delicacy) exfoliating, leaving the conditioner in and steaming up real nice.
  • Tanner again (if needed)
  • Hair & Makeup: I cannot stress enough the importance a practice round scheduled sometime before the big day. No matter how talented the artist is you need to be on the same page and the wedding day is not the day to find out that you are not)
For those of you doing your own, you still want to practice, no trying anything you’ve never tried today. Also, I bought a new mascara I won’t be using until the day of and will be cleaning all my brushes so I will feel as fresh as a brand new baby.

Sound like a lot of work? Maybe, but it’s partly that work that makes you feel as beautiful as ever and I happen to think it’s fun. (Feel free to omit any steps that don’t apply to you or your event:)

Also, I already istagrammed these but for those of you who don’t follow me (what!? You don’t follow me!? ….username: maskcara <hinthint>) , how should I do my makeup on Saturday???? Here are a couple ideas but I am open to others. I SERIOUSLY CAN’T DECIDE! HELP!

They are both gorgeous, but the first one is more glam (which is how you need to feel on your wedding day). The second one is more natural, which is beautiful but you want to stand out. It’s your day!! Happy for you !! Go with the first look. 🙂 <3

The second look for sure. It’s warm, romantic, and subtly sexy. The first look s sexy first and that may not be the look you are going for on your wedding day.

I love both looks and you look stunning as always, but I love the simplicity of the second look! It looks very fresh and radiant! So I vote for the second look 🙂 and a big CONGRADULATIONS on getting married on Saturday

The second one for sure. Raccoon eyes won’t be ‘in’ forever. I tried to avoid everything on my wedding day that would make me cringe 20 years later. Go for classic looks.

Congratulations on your upcoming day! What a fantastic post and checklist. I just wanted to put in my two-cents! For your wedding day shave if you can the Venus with Olay razor is amazing! It’s rediculously expensive for the simple fact that it’s a razor but it really is a great product.
    Congratulations again!

I love the eyes on the first pictures, combined with the more simple and plain cheek and lip of the second. I think that would be a beautiful combination!

The second one for sure! You look really fresh, and gorgeous. I really love the first one, for like night time.

Ok this is my thing… the second one is so natural and glowy. And think about how happy you are going to be walking down the isle? That will take your glow to a whole new level! Gorgeous!

Depends…is the event in doors or out? Day or night? I think both looks are gorg. I will say this, pictures dont’ show what you see in the mirror so a bit more is better. It’s like stage makeup really. You don’t want to look washed out. I actually really like your eye makeup in the second but recommend doing a bit more color on the lips like the first one. But honestly, you could show up sans makeup and knock his socks off! Congrats and make sure to take time and enjoy everything that is going on around you. Breathe him in when you have that first dance. Watch the little kiddos as they bop to the music, remember the faces on your family as you walk down that isle a married woman and remember how amazing you feel as a mrs. It goes way too fast!

They are both great looks, but I’m wondering if the 2nd one would be a better choice since you wouldn’t have to worry about the eyeliner from the first look messing up if you get teary-eyed. ?
Can’t wait to see the beautiful photos! Congrats!

Holy moly you are beautiful!! I think the first one will photograph better… but maybe use a lighter eyeliner color? You look GORGEOUS but in my opinion, the eyes are just a tad too smokey for a romantic, elegant day. BUT the important thing is that it is YOUR day, and you should choose the look that makes you feel the prettiest, sexiest, and most confident!! 🙂 You will be BREATHTAKING no matter what!!! XOXO

The second one looks more like a day look and the first more of a night look. When you do your make-up touch up half way through the day, darken your look to the second pic. That’s what I did for my wedding, and it was so fun! I changed my outfit, and make up look! For walking down the aisle be the fresh bride, (first look). Sexy wife smokey eye, (second look)

I really like both looks, but my vote goes for the second one. I think it’s more «eternal» than the first one.
Whatever you choose, you will be stunning.

Look # 2 is your most beautiful and natural YOU! I don’t know your fiance, but I guarantee you he says that you look your prettiest with no makeup, right?!?! I know – you think he is crazy… but for some reason the men that love us love looking at us the way we naturally are – untouched… and that is why we love them 😉 Best wishes on your big day and fab life with your new family! And thank you for your blog – you really help me to feel better about myself and that is better than any makeup I can buy!

Cara… Congratulations!!!! I am absoluteley in love with your website and recommend it to everyone. I think you look beautiful in both pics….great wedding pics I love ..always look beautiful, timeless and super glamorous…(even if they’re 20 years old).. Like a fantastic fashion moment that never looks out of style… without knowing if your wedding is day or night or what sort of gown you’re wearing.. I would say go for the more classic make up overall then glam up your eyes a bit more.. it’s sort of your signature eye look and I am sure you’re on your way to being a beauty icon yourself! Best of the best on your big day!

Loooove your blog & how funny you are! This is a big decision.. personally, I would do the second look for the ceremony and any bridal portraits BUT if you have time to steal away for a bit before you guys are announced maybe you can add more makeup to catch the drama of the second look for the second part of the day! Best of both worlds : )

I am way too late for my vote to possibly count, but I choose the 2nd look for sure! Way more romantic looking and not overly done. I don’t know what look you actually did, but I would have also suggested to you to look at the beautiful makeup looks in bridal magazines and practiced the looks you liked. I’ve seen them glam up the makeup without it looking like too much despite how glam it actually was. If I ever get married again I want a soft ethereal/other worldly type look with pretty lavender/pink colors. I also like classic bridal makeup looks. Soft long feathery lashes and semi-matte lipstick or low shine gloss, pale pink cheeks are always nice. One of my older sisters drove to California and got married on a rocky beach in California and had a very simple wedding ceremony with only 1 guest and she picked wild flowers right there minutes before her wedding to have as her bouquet. Afterwards they collected sand together and put it in a glass jar to signify their unity. It was too windy to have unity candles. I want my non-fluffy simple elegant dress to be a pale lavender and white or blue and white, or maybe white except for the bottom part of the dress to be dyed a deep pink ombre type of thing. I may go barefoot. Hair up and a bridal veil hanging low on the back of my head. 🙂

Both looks were pretty, though!! How did you have your hair? Up or down? Or half up and half down? When I got married I wore my hair down and curly and my dress was all white with white heels. I didn’t need any jewelry because of the beading at the neck of the dress and on the wrist part. The chest, sleeves, and upper back of the dress was sheer material with the rest white with beautiful beading and a long train in the back. My youngest sister was my flower girl. I wore brown eyeshadow and pink lipstick. I got married in the church and had my reception in the gym.
