Beauty Basics Products Tips & Tricks

Have you BATHED lately?

Your brushes, I mean.

If you haven’t, you could be brushing on TONS of dirt grime and bacteria right along with your makeup! GROSS!

It could cause breakouts and blackheads too. Which is EVEN GROSSER! Is grosser even a word? Speaking of words that aren’t words…have you noticed my terrible spelling and punctuation? Yikes, I have. I vow to work on that.

It’s easier than you think and will only take a hot minute so pull out some shampoo and get started in 3 easy steps!

1. Rinse those puppies in warm water. Focus on the end of the bristles and try not to get much moisture in the root. That is where they are all glued together and you don’t want to soak the glue much.

2. Swirl the bristles in some shampoo. Again avoiding the root.

3. Rinse until water runs clear.
Then set on a towel to air dry…so maybe that counts as another step but 3 steps sounds better.

Thanks for the tip! I would not have thought of it myself and I need all the help I can get to avoid breaking out. Also, I agree with you…3 steps (or three anything) is much better than 4.

Thanks for the post on cleaning makeup brushes!! I am never sure if I should use shampoo or skin cleanser on my brushes, and yes, things are always better in threes. 🙂

Well if you are going by the book once a week is recommended. If you are wingin’ it I’d say twice a month.
